Academic Lab Expectations & Grades
Daily

SSR (sustained silent reading) first 10 minutes
 Immediately sit and silently read
 No distractions during SSR (including restroom)
May use restroom after SSR with pass
Travel Time
 Pass for computer labs, library and teachers
 May leave/return at any time (no passing bell)
o With Ac Lab teacher approval
o Must have pass from teacher or approve through a phone call
 Mandatory to return by 11:05 for announcements with their signed pass
No pass required to go to lockers (as long as they are near classroom)
Students must sign in/out log when leaving the room or entering another teacher’s room
Students maintain an Ac Lab folder with 3 prongs for reading log, grade checklist, and
assignments

 Mandatory grade check
Monthly/Quarterly

Complete SRC (Scholastic Reading Counts) Quiz
Complete Grade Level Activities/Assignments (TBD)
Grading

Weekly grade 12 points
 SSR
 Grade check
 Time management of the student (on task, not disruptive)
Quarterly
 SRC Test- 25% of quarter grade
o 50 points for choosing a book by progress grade check
 No book = 0/50

 Book = 50/50
 If book is checked out after progress, change grade to 50/50
o __/50 points for taking SRC Test by end of quarter
 100% = 50/50
 90% = 40/50
 80% = 30/50
 70% = 20/50
 60% = 10/50
 0-50% or no test = 0/50
Additional grades vary from quarter to quarter
o Required forms – handbook, AUP, plagiarism quiz, etc.
o Monthly/quarterly lessons
