GUIDELINES FOR INSCRIPTIONS FOR COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS Inscriptions in connection with donations for commemorative bricks must comply with the following guidelines. Inscriptions on and near benches are subject to the same guidelines. 1. The primary purpose of the bricks is to honor or commemorate Nottingham High School and its students and employees, past and present. 2. An inscription may indicate that it was purchased by a particular individual or individuals, family, business or non-profit organization. 3. Inscriptions may be in the name of, in honor of, in celebration of or in memory of students, alumni and employees. 4. Inscriptions may be in the name of, in honor of, or in memory of family members of students, alumni and employees. 5. Inscriptions may be in the name of, or in honor of, the Syracuse City School District, Nottingham High School, graduating classes, student teams and other school-sponsored extracurricular activities. 6. Brief expressions of school spirit which primarily refer to “Nottingham”, “Bulldog”, “Bulldogs” or “Syracuse” are permitted. 7. No other slogans, advertising, or expressions of support for particular persons, organizations or causes, regardless of their viewpoint, may be included. 8. Inscriptions may not include anything that is obscene, vulgar, defamatory, discriminatory, bullying, violent, or derogatory. 9. Examples of the available brick types include the following: [Name of student, alumnus, employee, team, or school-sponsored extracurricular activity] Class of ____ In Honor of [Name of student, alumnus, employee, team, club or student organization] Class of ____ In Memory of [Name of student, alumnus or employee] Class of ____ 10. A brick may include one logo from a list of approved standard logos. Any such logos will be directly related to Nottingham High School. No other symbols, pictures or other material related to persons, businesses, organizations or causes, regardless of their viewpoint, may be included.
