The majority of the site has no identifiable features or deposits of archaeological significance, however a small feature containing fragments of Roman roof tile was identified in the north of the site. It is not known if this feature dates from the Roman period, or is a later land drain with residual finds within it. Given that this was a staged programme of works, I wish to inform you that I advise that a second and final stage of works is required to further investigate this feature, however this may be achieved during development by undertaking a watching brief of the topsoil strip in this northern area. Upon request from the applicant I will provide a brief for this works, which shall define the area to observe. If you have any questions on this matter please do not hesitate to contact me.
