Africa Commodities Map:
On the cardstock map you are given, (NO REPLACEMENTS if lost!), you are to complete the
following:
 Outline, label and color the Geography Zones of Africa on the white map. (use page 445)
You will be shown where the Sahel is in class, or you can google it so you can add it to the
map. You must include a key as well.
 Label the Niger River and color and label the African Kingdoms of Ghana, Mali and
Songhai. (use page 448 and the rough draft completed in class)
 Label cities of Timbuktu, Tripoli, Cairo, Benin, Saleh, Gao, and indicate where Mecca
would be with an arrow. (use page 448)
 Draw the trade routes (Golden Web) that link these cities and other resources. (use pg
448)
 Attach items that represent the major commodities (traded goods) gold and salt. Use the
rough draft that we copied from the atlas. Make sure nothing you attach falls off!
