About AISES
Since 1977, AISES, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society has worked to remove barriers to
fuller representation and participation in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines
among American Indian people – as students, professionals, mentors, and leaders. The mission of AISES is to
substantially increase the representation of American Indians and Alaska Natives in engineering, science
and other related technology disciplines.
About the Leadership Summit
The fourth annual AISES Leadership Summit will be focused on building the skill and knowledge of AISES
members in the realm of professional and career development- to better prepare AISES members to attain
jobs and careers in the fields of STEM. This comprehensive learning experience will address building leadership
skills of approximately 125 AISES college and graduate members and 75 professional members. Attendees
include college chapter members, regional and national student representatives as well. In addition to formal
learning sessions, there will be peer-to-peer networking, regional conference planning, a traditional closing
circle, and a closing banquet.
Also in its fourth year, the Full Circle Mentorship Program will be
highlighted. The online tool matches interested AISES college and
graduate students with AISES professional members.

AISES’ “Lighting the Pathway to Faculty Careers for Natives in STEM
Program” will also be participating in this year’s Leadership
Summit. The long term goal of the project is to increase the
number of members who pursue faculty positions in STEM
disciplines at United States colleges and universities.
“I learned a lot about
myself as a leader, and a
lot about working with my
fellow AISES chapter
members. I learned great
motivational tactics and
had a lot of fun
networking.”
