There is obviously a strong desire amongst young people to play their part in local communities – when did your group last give the reins of a project over to a young person or team to complete? A series of public meetings have been arranged for the next few weeks, or you can complete an online survey on MID’s website, http://www.midl.ie/index.php/rural-development/leader-public-consultation WE expect this to be a MAJOR SOURCE OF FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY-LED INITIATIVES, so PLEASE TAKE A LOOK ____________________________________ Government Guidelines for public bodies on how to Consult – your views needed The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Mr. Brendan Howlin T.D., has published proposed Principles based Guidelines which aim to foster greater citizen consultation and involvement in policy and service development to strengthen democracy and improve public services. Applications must show the commitment of the club to increase its membership / develop its level of expertise As part of the application, sports club must draft a 12-18 month development plan, with achievable outcomes that will result in increased participation within their club (for projects that will commence in 2016). Applications must be as detailed as possible and offer value for money initiatives. Applications will be accepted for assistance under this fund, which is open to Sports clubs whose remit includes the promotion of youth activities. Monaghan Sports Partnership advises those interested to attend a special meeting outlining the grant to ensure that they understand the full criteria and commitment involved. ______________________________________ €420,000 awarded to Co Monaghan projects under the Sports Capital Programme News just in. This three-hour course is ideal for volunteers, leaders, mentors, committee members in sports clubs and provides basic awareness regarding your responsibility in the area of child protection. Our next course is scheduled for: Monday 19th October (6.30pm-9.30pm) at the Peace Link Clones. Price €15pp, Booking essential. Children’s Officer Training Safeguarding 2 - Club Children’s Officer (C.C.O) A person appointed to the Club Children’s Officer position in a club must have completed safeguarding 1 (Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness workshop) and should complete the NEW Club Children’s Officer 3 hour workshop. This course will help the Club Children’s Officer to carry out the function of their role in the club and support the implementation of best practice in the club. The simplified system reduces the amount of information required in order to complete the registration process. To further engage and to assist charities in meeting their legal obligation, the Charities Regulatory Authority in conjunction with The Wheel and Volunteer Ireland (supported by individual Volunteer Centres) will host a nationwide information campaign at 17 locations across Ireland.
