(c) Be the holder of full driving licence and be a competent driver.
A third level qualification of at least degree standard, in community development is desirable
but not essential

· able to work with and bring together the varied interests of the community and voluntary
sector, elected representatives and Council officials.

the short listing requirements will be significantly higher than the minimum standard set out.

meetings have been arranged for the next few weeks, or you can complete an online survey on

Government Guidelines for public bodies on how to Consult – your views
needed
The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Mr. Brendan Howlin T.D., has published
proposed Principles based Guidelines which aim to foster greater citizen consultation and
involvement in policy and service development to strengthen democracy and improve public
services.
A consultation process is underway on the draft Guidelines. Anyone wishing to submit their
views may do so by forwarding them to consultationguidelines@per.gov.ie by Friday 9th
October 2015.

Monaghan Sports Partnership
Sports Development Grant Scheme 2015
This ‘Participation Development’ Grant Scheme has a specific purpose around the
development of the sports club, its members / participants and its plans for the future.
Applications must show the commitment of the club to increase its membership / develop
its level of expertise
As part of the application, sports club must draft a 12-18 month development plan, with
achievable outcomes that will result in increased participation within their club (for projects
that will commence in 2016).
Applications must be as detailed as possible and offer value for money initiatives.
Applications will be accepted for assistance under this fund, which is open to Sports clubs
whose remit includes the promotion of youth activities.
Monaghan Sports Partnership advises those interested to attend a special meeting
outlining the grant to ensure that they understand the full criteria and commitment
involved.

A Meals on Wheel Network has now been formed under the umbrella of Irish Rural Link to tackle
the issues affecting the delivery of the service. Issues include cuts to funding, increasing
bureaucracy, food labelling, employment schemes etc. Irish Rural Link are calling on Meals on
Wheels organisations around the country to contact them if they are interested in becoming
members of this network.

The Future is Here!
October 2015 is the year Marty goes into the Future and we’re celebrating
with a Back to the Future Fundraiser. Youth Work Ireland Monaghan are
holding a “Back to the Future” themed fundraising night on the 16th of
October 2015, in the Fiddlers Carrickmacross. The event will be fancy dress
-50’s, 80’s, futuristic and Wild West. We have also secured a Back to the
Future DeLorean Car, which will be outside the venue Thursday, Friday
and Friday Night! All fundraising from this event will help us to establish
the new Youth Cafe ‘Youthers’ in Carrickmacross. Tickets 10 euro and are
available in the Fiddlers and the Youth Information Centre on O Neill Street.

Child Protection & Sports First Aid courses this Autumn/Winter 2015
Code of Ethics (Safeguarding 1-Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Workshop)
We held a basic awareness course last night in Castleblayney at which 17 people from ten different
sports clubs attended.
This three-hour course is ideal for volunteers, leaders, mentors, committee members in sports clubs
and provides basic awareness regarding your responsibility in the area of child protection. Our next
course is scheduled for:
Monday 19th October (6.30pm-9.30pm) at the Peace Link Clones. Price €15pp, Booking essential.

Children’s Officer Training Safeguarding 2 - Club Children’s Officer (C.C.O)
A person appointed to the Club Children’s Officer position in a club must have completed
safeguarding 1 (Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness workshop) and should complete the
NEW Club Children’s Officer 3 hour workshop. This course will help the Club Children’s Officer to
carry out the function of their role in the club and support the implementation of best practice in the
club. Participants will also receive a Club Children’s Officer Action Planning document as part of the
training.
Monaghan Sports Partnership has organised the above Club Children’s Officer workshop to take
place on Wednesday 11th November 2015 6.30pm-9.30pm in Castleblayney Enterprise Centre,

Basic Sports First Aid – One Evening Workshop (limited places)
This course has an emphasis on dealing with minor sports injuries and covers the following:
Scene Management, Sports First Aid Kit, Asthma, Fractures, Sprains & Strains, Unconsciousness,
Bleeding & Wounds, Treatment for Shock, The Choking Casualty, Heart Attack and Stroke. On
successful completion, course participants are issued with a First Aid Certificate of Attendance only.
This course is taking place on Wednesday 14th October 2015 from 6.30pm-10pm in Castleblayney
Enterprise Centre, €30pp.

Men’s Exercise in Water class
One for the Men - at Monaghan Leisure Centre, starting Wednesday 7th October 10am-11am which
will run every Wednesday at the same time.

includes advice and exercise to help you stay fit and healthy. Tai Chi is gentle and low
impact exercises to help calm your mind and increase your energy. Light refreshments
served and all are welcome.
PILATES by Jeanette Keenan will commence on Thursday 17th September and every

The Charities Regulatory Authority recently launched a simplified registration and annual
reporting system for the 8,500 charities that had charitable tax exemption from the Revenue
Commissioners (CHY number). The simplified system reduces the amount of information
required in order to complete the registration process.
To further engage and to assist charities in meeting their legal obligation, the Charities
Regulatory Authority in conjunction with The Wheel and Volunteer Ireland (supported by
individual Volunteer Centres) will host a nationwide information campaign at 17 locations
across Ireland. These events will provide practical guidance on the process of registration and
annual reporting. The events are free and start at 7pm.

Monaghan Fire & Civil Protection are offering free Home fire Safety talks to community groups
across the County.
The talk will be given by a Senior Fire Officer. The scheduling of talks will be based on a first come
first served basis depending on resources available.
The talk will last between 30-60 minutes depending on the number of questions.

‘One Good Idea 2015’: The SEAI schools project competition, which is now open,
gives students the opportunity to discuss and debate climate change and energy
efficiency issues and use their many talents including art, music, drama and writing
to bring the messages to their own communities in innovative and engaging ways.
