Department Needs Survey Template and Guidelines
A critical step in the Preparation Phase is to determine the needs of the department and the
qualifications of the candidate who will fill those needs. This includes determining the required and
preferred qualifications, and the evaluation criteria that will be used to evaluate the candidate
submissions.
Search Committees can use this survey template to determine the needs of the department and the
priority ranking assigned to those needs. You can copy and paste these questions into a free Survey
Monkey account that you set up yourself, or you can find another means of soliciting this information
from your committee members or department faculty.
