THE RYAN JONES MEMORIAL INTERN SCHOLARSHIP Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism, San Francisco State University 2012 – 2013 Intern Scholarship Information Introduction: The Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism is proud to offer the Ryan Jones Memorial Intern Scholarship to undergraduate RPT majors who have met all the requirements to do an internship for the upcoming spring semester. This $600.00 scholarship is awarded in memory of Ryan Jones who exemplified innovative thought, leadership ability, stewardship of natural resources, and commitment to community. The scholarship is awarded in an effort to provide financial assistance, encourage professional development and future contributions to the Recreation, Parks, and Tourism profession. Criteria: All candidates must successfully meet each of the following requirements: (1) Have a minimum GPA of 3.2 in the major and at SFSU. (2) Have fulfilled all the internship placement prerequisites (see the online Internship Manual Procedures). (3) Provide two (2) letters of recommendation with a least one letter from a Recreation, Parks, and Tourism employer/agency supervisor (paid or volunteer experience). (4) Write an essay not to exceed 750 words on how you demonstrate innovative thought, leadership ability, stewardship of natural resources, and commitment to community.
