5. Students analyzed an “example” political cartoon.
6. Students read Barbara Ascher’s “On Compassion” and Anna Quindlen’s “Homeless”.
7. Students analyzed Ascher and Quindlen in terms of their literary techniques;
compared and contrasted; created explication chart.

side-by-side; explicated by Content, Genre/Style, and Significance.
