Imperialism Timeline
1. Students will work individually, but can get help from a classmate and the
teacher.
2. Students will be responsible for getting the correct information. The
information is in the textbook in Chapter 22. Only use the internet when
given a specific website. Some are dates and students will figure out the
event, some are events and have to find the dates.
3. When there is more than 1 date in a year, you need to write the full date
(month, day, year). Many events happened in the same year or even in the
same month. Once the events have been researched, place all the events in
date order; earliest date to latest.
4. All students will hand in a timeline with all the dates in order and the
events written with complete sentences. Some items will need an
explanation (Platt Amendment, Roosevelt Corollary, Open Door Policy,
there may be more). Do a rough draft first, that way mistakes can be
corrected for the final draft. Check the bottom of the page for examples
of how the entries should be written.
5. The timeline will be graded as a TEST. Students will be graded on accuracy.
Each event will be worth 1 point for accuracy of date or event and accuracy
of placement in the timeline. 5 points for handing in the rough draft. This
will be a total of 29 pts.
6. Timelines will be due ____________________ _______ at the end of class.
