February 21, 2012 4 PM ET; 3 PM CT; 2 PM MT; 1 PM, PT 1-866-953-9689/ 665294 NOTES Welcome—Mary Anderson The Chair welcomed the members of the Center for Sustainability Leadership Group to the monthly conference call of the CLG. Members in attendance included: Mary Anderson, Carl Quiram, Jennifer Adams, Vicki Quiram, Mary Pat Baldauf, Shelly Read, and Kristel Riddervold. Morgan Wazlaw, Chair of the Emerging Leaders Academy, also joined the call. Approval of January Meeting Minutes – Mary Anderson/Group A motion was made, seconded and carried unanimously to approve the revised January meeting minutes. Updates – Mary Anderson/Julia Anastasio Julia briefed the Leadership Group on the outcomes from the February APWA Board of Directors meeting. At the February meeting the Board of Directors approved the recommended changes to the PACE Awards and authorized the Executive Director to contribute up to $75,000 to ISI to support an ISI project manager for one year. Julia also updated the Group on ISI and the EnvisionTM Rating System. ISI is preparing to credential the first group of rating system experts in April. The EnvisionTM training courses will begin in March. APWA is currently completing its review of the Stage 1 Checklist and will provide our comments and recommendations to ISI by February 29, 2012. Vicki updated the group on her recent experience taping the training webinars as well. Julia asked for a volunteer to take over responsibility for the session Mary Pat Baldauf submitted to the 2012 Sustainability in Public Works Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. Mary Pat is unable to attend the conference. Julia reminded the group that their Reporter articles are due on March 26, 2012. Mary reminded the group that nominations for the 2013 Center Leadership Group term are due on March 1, 2012. Carl reported that he and Kurt Bloomquist from the Emergency Management Committee will be meeting in the next week to develop the Resiliency CLL program. Julia reminded the group that the Sustainability Principles White Papers are due March 30, 2012. Julia also updated the group on the Center’s communications around the Principles of Sustainability. Information about the availability of the Principles document was included in the Chapter Leaders newsletter and the APWA Talking Points. Julia is still working on the draft technical committee letter announcing the availability of the Principles and encouraging the Technical Committees to work with us. Once the draft is completed it will be shared with the group for review and comment. GAT Updates 1. Center Video Project -- Jennifer Adams Julia updated the Leadership Group on the status of the DVD contract with Ridini and Five9 Productions. Vicki is working with Teri Newhouse to finalize the contract language for Peter’s signature. 2. Website – Julia Anastasio/ Keith Reester Updates and new content continues to be developed and added to the webpages as necessary. 3. Chapter Liaison Communications --- Howard LaFever Carl briefed the group on the most recent Chapter Liaisons conference call. He said that there was good turn out on the call and that the group was very enthusiastic. Julia will follow up with Howard to see if there are any specific actions or follow-up from the call. New Items Julia asked the group to review the proposed changes to the APWA Awards Program and to be prepared to discuss the suggested changes during our next conference call. Morgan Wazlaw, Chair of the Emerging Leaders Academy, joined the Leadership Group for its call and updated it on the activities of the ELA. She asked the group to identify a potential mentor to help with the pilot project that was identified in the ELA class’ work plan. Vicki and Howard will serve as mentors to this group. Morgan will also share with the Leadership Group the ELA’s monthly project updates. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 PM ET. NOTES: 1.
