Verify college approval: Submitting the AD does not guarantee that the request will be approved. Be sure to obtain confirmation from the Graduate College that your AD has been approved, and verify the approved AD start term/year. Canceling registrations: An approved AD does not automatically cancel any registrations. If you are enrolled for the first semester of admission and enrollment, you must cancel your registration(s). Failure to do so will result in billing and assigned grades for the term(s). Financial support through the University: If you receive financial aid from the University, you should talk with your graduate program, Student Financial Aid, Office of International Students and Scholars and the Graduate College to learn about any effects an AD might have. Financial support from private funding sources: If you receive funding from a source outside the University, you should talk with that agency to learn about any effects an AD might have. Financial support from a graduate assistantship appointment: You must contact your graduate program and talk with the employing unit prior to submitting this form to your college. If you are an international student: You must contact the Office of International Students and Scholars to determine what, if any, impact the AD will have regarding your immigration status. Multiple degree programs: If you are a student pursuing two graduate degrees in more than one college, you will need to request an AD from each graduate program under the provisions of this policy. If you are a student pursuing a graduate degree and a first professional degree (e.g., D.V.M. or D.O. degree), you will need to request an AD under the provisions of this policy and will also need to comply with the AD policy stipulated by the college offering the first professional degree. Enrollment after AD: If you obtain an approved AD from the Graduate College in accordance with the AD: Graduate Student Policy, you are eligible for enrollment for the indicated semester provided you have: o Applied to your college for Admission Deferral via the Admission Deferral Request--Graduate Students form o Applied for admission deferral to the same major, degree, and option o Received approval and enrolled for the term/year identified in the college-approved AD agreement o Completed the Reinstatement of Admission Following Deferral form disclosing and changes in academic history and background November 24, 2014 AD Page 2
