Graduation Eligibility
Eligibility for the June 2015 Graduation Ceremony
To be eligible to participate in the Belmont graduation ceremony held in June, students must be in a position
to meet minimum graduation requirements.
Specifically, students:
A
must have the correct number of courses on their current timetable to meet the
minimum
requirements to complete The British Columbia Certificate of Graduation or
"Dogwood
Diploma".
B
must be in good standing within these courses.
Parents will be contacted once the school becomes concerned about a student not meeting requirements. At
some point in the school year, if students discover (or are informed of) their ineligibility, they will be given
the opportunity to regain their standing. A parent meeting may be required.

earned can be earlier than the session date when the credit is reported. Some

Course Selection Process
Course selection begins in the spring for the following school year. Students will
select courses required for graduation, as well as alternate choices in the event
that classes selected are not available. It is important to make careful selections at
this time, as changing courses later often is not possible. Students should make
sure their course selections meet their graduation requirements, as well as satisfy
any post-secondary admission requirements.
Course Changes
Students should see their counsellor immediately if they have any problems with
their course schedules. During the opening days of the semester, students are
required to get any course request approved by the vice-principal. Please note
that only limited course changes can be made depending on availability of space.
Course Change Request Forms must be filled out completely to request a change
of schedule. Students must change courses prior to the deadline posted for each
semester.
Graduation Credit Checks
Students who expect to graduate in June should meet with their counsellor
regularly throughout the school year to ensure they have enough credits to satisfy
graduation requirements.

Transcript Verification Reports
Transcript Verification Reports (TVR's), graduation credit summaries, are provided
for each student by the Ministry of Education. TVR's are provided in midNovember, and again throughout the school year. Students should meet with their
counsellor to report any errors or inconsistencies on their TVR. Students are
advised to meet with counsellors to ensure that they are eligible for graduation
status, scholarship opportunities, and entrance requirements for their planned
post-secondary institution.
Interim transcripts are available upon request for students requiring proof of
interim marks for scholarship or admission applications. Come to the Counselling
Office and fill out a green form called “Request for Transcript of Grades.”
When Are Transcripts Sent to Students?
The Ministry of Education sends transcripts to all active Grade 12 students:


At the end of July, regardless of graduation status
Each school and Post-Secondary Institution designated by students on their
Post-Secondary Institutions (PSI) Selections also receives an official copy of
transcript information. PSI Selections must be submitted electronically by
the student through the Ministry of Ed website.
