for approved community service projects. Remember, currently 100 hours are needed for the Bright Futures Academic
Scholarship, & 75 are needed for the Medallion Scholarship.
Stay involved in at least one school club this year.

Required: Attend College Fair- Tues., Oct. 6 , 2015 at Bradenton Area Convention Center in Palmetto 6-8
Search for challenging classes to take next year: AP, dual enrollment, virtual, etc. Check the requirements for high
school graduation, college admissions, Bright Futures scholarships, NCAA Clearinghouse, National Honor Society, or
vocational schools. Check your school’s course catalogue for a complete list of programs offered.
Take the PSAT 10/14/15. You must sign up in Guidance office in advance. The PSAT Score Report you receive from
this test will be used for the workshop in February.
All Sophomores will take the ASPIRE test as preparation for the ACT test you will take in 11th grade.
Talk to your school counselors, College Success Coach, and mentor about Post-secondary education options related
to your career interests.
Update your list of awards, honors, paid or volunteer work, and extracurricular activities. Colleges often want to
know about “leadership” activities and they are an important component for some scholarships.
Continue working on your high school/career portfolio. Keep a College Folder or binder, saving all items listed above
and PSAT and ASPIRE test score reports also include essays you write here. You will be glad when you are a Senior!

Look for summer programs and offerings at colleges that are open to High School students.
Begin researching different colleges/university/vocational schools and inquire about admission requirements.

Get your PSAT Score Report and ASPIRE Score Report from your guidance counselor. Save it in your College Folder.
Remember: You will need your PSAT Score Report for the workshop in February.
Look for a way to volunteer and earn service hours during the winter holiday. How? ______________________
Look at websites to see what kind of scholarships you could apply for and if you need to take certain classes or
volunteer with certain groups.
Narrow down your interested areas of study and try to declare a major.
Choose your top colleges and universities to research your major interest of study.
Find out what standardized tests your chosen colleges/universities prefer and accept. Make a timeline of deadlines
and hang it on the wall to remind yourself when things need to be sent in.
