Civics Mr. Morrissey Name __________________________ Dates: ____/____ to ____/____ Daily Reflection Directions: A critical component of becoming a highly educated and engaged citizen is keeping up with what is going on in the world around you. Over the course of each week, you will be expected to watch three episodes of CNN Student News. After each broadcast, choose one issue discussed in the broadcast and write a journal targeting (1) the issue being presented, (2) your feelings about the issue, and (3) how you would change or support this issue to better society. Assignments will be collected at the beginning of class every Friday. For example: The issue discussed is Hurricane Irene and it's impact on the East Coast of America. During the weekend people were told to evacuate their homes in certain parts of the East Coast since the government did not want another Hurricane Katrina - New Orleans situation. However, several people would not evacuate. I feel that those people should be forced to evacuate for the greater good of society. If they refused, I think, that a military escort should remove them from their houses. If the Hurricane destroyed their homes and killed them the government would have to take care of them anyway. In addition, the government would have saved that persons life. The government should make it a law that if there is danger that threatens a person life everything possible should be done to help those people. Even if it means forceful evacuation. “Saying I notice you’re a nerd, is like saying, “Hey, I notice that you’d rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you’d rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan.” –John Green Summary: My Thoughts: What I Would Do: Civics Mr. Morrissey Summary: My Thoughts: What I Would Do: Summary: My Thoughts: What I Would Do: Name __________________________ Dates: ____/____ to ____/____
