1 I hereby make a gift of and assign to the Regents of the University of Michigan, for the use of the Bentley Historical
Library, the paper described above. I assign to the Regents of the University of Michigan any copyright which I
possess to the paper. I understand that even though I transfer copyright to the library, I will have full rights to
publish the work as written or as revised without seeking permission of the Bentley Library. If you choose this
alternative, the Bentley Library will own the copyright and will allow researchers to use the paper provided you as
author are properly cited.

I hereby make a gift of and assign to the Regents of the University of Michigan, for the use of the Bentley Historical
Library, the paper described above. I hereby retain copyright to my work for a period of 7 years from the date of
this agreement. After seven years, I assign to the Regents of the University of Michigan any copyright which I
possess to the paper. If you choose this alternative, the Bentley Library will own the copyright after a period of
seven years. In the meantime, researchers will be able to quote from your paper under the fair use provisions of the
copyright law.

Library, the paper described above. I hereby retain copyright to my work. If you choose this alternative researchers
will only be able to cite brief sections in accordance with fair use but will not be able to incorporate the paper into a
larger work or use extensive sections or the whole work without your permission or the permission of your heirs.
Because it is often difficult to track down the copyright owner of a work or that person’s heirs, we recommend for ease
of administration that you choose item 1 or 2.

In making this gift, it is my intent that researchers who meet requirements set forth by the Bentley Historical Library may
have full access to this paper unless specific restrictions are stated as follows: (You may restrict all access to the paper
for a specific period of time—if you choose to restrict the paper you must provide a date in the future when the
restriction will be lifted). The usual reason for restriction is the rare situation where the paper might reveal some
personal information on a living person.
Section 3 --Reproduction authorization
Persons granted access may also make single copies by photocopy or by electronic means in lieu of notetaking, solely for
personal use and not for distribution of any kind regardless of whether or not I have retained the copyright for the
paper.
