CHARLES COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER READING LISTS 2015 – 2016 The Charles County Honors/AP English program requires students to complete summer reading to prepare them for the upcoming school year and to give teachers a common ground with which to begin instruction. Summer reading will be assessed by tests, quizzes, and other methods when school reopens. Book lists will go to libraries and bookstores; students are encouraged to purchase individual copies, if possible, so that they can annotate the texts as they read. Please sign below, keep the top copy, and return the bottom copy to your English teacher. I understand that enrollment in an honors or AP English class entails completion of the appropriate summer reading assignment. ___________________________________________ Student Name (Please print) ___________________________________________ Student Signature Date ___________________________________________ Parent/Guardian Signature Date ___________________________________________ Current Teacher High School North Point High School Grade 9H Lubar, Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie Grade 10H La Plata High School Grade 9H Knowles, A Separate Peace Grade 10H Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451 Achebe, Things Fall Apart Grade 11H Twain, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Dumas, Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian in America Grade 12H Camus, The Stranger *Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five AP Language Walls, The Glass Castle Graff, Birkenstein, They Say, I Say:The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing (edition w/out Lackey High School Grade 9H Kidd, The Secret Life of Bees OR Knowles, A Separate Peace Grade 9H Myers, Slam!
