All New Lexus IS Series Takes Hong Kong by Storm
Crown Motors Limited celebrated the launch of the all new Lexus IS series at AsiaWorld-Expo
Hall 11 today. Over a hundred media and guests were invited to join the event. Complementing
the supremacy of the new series, Mr. Naoki Kobayashi, Deputy Chief Engineer of the all new
Lexus lS and professional test driver (Takumi) Mr. Yoshiaki Ito were invited from Japan to join the
grand event. Following the welcome speech given by Mr. Patrick Lee, CEO of Inchcape North
Asia and China, the event was officially kicked off. While Mr. Kobayashi introduced the brilliant
design concept of the new series, Takumi, behind the wheel of the Lexus IS350 F Sport,
fascinated guests with the remarkable power and exceptional agility of the new series on a track
specially created for this event. Famous local artists Miss Karena Ng, Miss Christine Kuo, Miss
Grace Wong and Mr. Ruco Chan were also present to witness the luxurious driving pleasure
promised by the all new Lexus IS series.
The highly-anticipated series not only embodies Lexus’ heritage of true luxury, but also marries
the driving enjoyment of sports cars and advanced fuel-saving technologies, strengthening its
dominance in the luxury sedan market. From the exterior to the cabin design, every detail of
Lexus IS350 F Sport speaks of superb performance. Besides, as the only luxurious sedan
qualified for the tax incentives for environment-friendly petrol private cars, Lexus IS300h is going
to be the hottest choice in town.
Dynamic Sleekness Reflects True Luxury
The seamless and dynamic car body highlights the harmonious contours and the delicate curves,
interpreting sleekness and aggressiveness at the same time. With 10 colours to choose from, the
new series also features many iconic elements of Lexus, including the exclusive Spindle Grille,
HID Headlamp with arrow-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps. The laser brazing technology
and new diffusor create an impressively modern and sleek car body that outruns other
comparable models with a drag coefficient of just 0.25.
Prestige and grandeur are also shown in the new cabin. The Ultimate versions of IS250 and
IS300h both offer exquisitely finished interior trim made of wood or bamboo, while IS350 F Sport
offers the wedge metal option, showcasing the superior taste of drivers. The new instrument
panel set at a lower position than the previous version ensures the best visibility by preventing
the reflection of sunlight, and the new 370mm three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shift
improves the control even further. With the wheelbase increased by 70mm, the rear seats are
more spacious and can easily be folded up to create a bigger luggage compartment space,
offering luxury and versatility at the same time.
The new series also comes with the Lexus Display Audio Controller with a 7-inch high-definition
display that shows all information about the drive, temperature and audio system. Committed to
technological innovation with people’s needs in mind, the exclusive Electrostatic Temperature
Control Switch invented by Lexus allows accurate temperature control by simply sliding a finger
on the switch on the console.
Another Lexus first feature is the Pop Up Hood that will pop up by 70mm upon collision, creating
a buffer distance between the pedestrian and the engine during accident and minimising the
injury.
Flair of the LFA Supercar
With three or four driving modes available, Lexus IS series stands out with exceptional power
and versatile performances. While the Normal Mode ensures a quiet and comfortable journey,
the Eco Mode can maximise the fuel efficiency. The Sport S Mode and Sport S+ Mode, both
exclusive to IS350 F Sport, can boost the responsiveness of the engine and transmission as well
as the stability and control of the car. Acceleration is smooth and accurate with the 8-Speed
Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) Transmission, which brings the control and dynamics to a new level.
Inspired by professional sports cars, the front seats provide optimal support and comfort with a
perfect fit. In addition, the unique movable meters inspired by LFA further complete the supercar
driving experience with bezel that changes colour according to the driving mode and shifts when
displaying different information.
The First Sedan of Its Grade Qualified for Green Tax Incentives
Since their launch, Lexus hybrids have been leading the green sedan market of Hong Kong with
unrivalled power and high fuel efficiency. Lexus IS300h in the EV Mode achieves zero emission
on top of the quiet and comfortable drive, and significantly save cost by lowering the fuel
consumption to 20 km per litre.
As the only model of its grade qualified for the tax incentives for environment-friendly petrol
private cars in Hong Kong, Lexus IS300h owners can now enjoy a tax incentive of HK$75,000.
Unlike typical hybrids that compromise the luggage compartment space for the battery, Lexus
IS300h reallocates the position of battery to allow the luggage compartment volume to beat that
of IS250 and IS350 F Sport.
