After meeting at a tailgate party, the two found themselves taking different paths in life only to be reunited at – you guessed it – another tailgate party, three years later! This time, however, the pair decided to follow their paths together and, years later, found themselves in sunny Ocean Shores, with Todd on one knee and Julie absolutely speechless. Maui was a whole new adventure for Todd and Julie, which was one of the things that made their destination wedding so meaningful. “We went there together for the first time,” Julie shared. “All of our experiences on that island were ours!” Their intimate wedding suited the couple well and they cherished the ability to interact with each and every person who attended their wedding in paradise. As their planner Jennifer of Taylor’d Events added, “There was just something about the waves crashing on the black rock and the view of Lanai and Molokai that solidified that the ceremony spot was ‘the one.’ In fact, the area we selected at the hotel felt like a private lawn with a dramatic backdrop for guests to enjoy.” The bride has several ties to Hawaii and that influenced their favors. They were boxes, which was made by Todd and in each box was Hawaiian phrases in both Hawaiian and English. Additionally, after the first dance, Julie took to the dance floor to hula for Todd, she had been taking lessons and practicing in secret. Julie’s best advice for future couples planning a destination wedding is to select a wedding planner that is in your time zone and knows your destination, rather than one at the destination where you are getting married. She also advises to make sure you consider many options when searching for the perfect place to say “I Do.” As for favorite memories, Julie shares, “It was all a very memorable day. I think we both remember ever single person who attended because we were able to interact with everyone.” From Jennifer, Taylor’d Events: When Julie came to me she wanted help with floral, we had gone through photos and she found one that was very vivid, like what you see, but she wanted her bouquet to be very soft and romantic, so quite the difference, but I think it totally speaks to what she is, very vibrant and fun, but soft and romantic at the same time. The way Julie found me was great, Julie’s future sister-in-law and I graduated in the same class in high school, so when Julie was having troubles in planning, she knew that I did weddings and that I know Maui and that was the connection. So back in the day, I knew Todd when I was in high school.
