Dear sir/madam,

SreeNarayana College, Alathur are happy to announce that we are organising a two day

National Seminar on

Perusing Children’s Literature – An Exploration Through Less

Trodden Pathways on 17 th

and 18 th

December 2014.

About the Seminar

Children’s Literature with its fanciful blend of fact and fiction has forever held the young and the old alike in its magical spell. It takes us on a ride through a maze of magic and splendour, of music, mystery and myth and provides us with a rich reading experience .But beyond this aura of fantasy and fiction, there is a vast expanse of hidden treasures which has remained unexplored and been left unexposed to the light of day. This genre of literature has been looked upon lightly as something unfit to be included within the traditional literary canon.

However in recent times there has been a shift in approach towards Children’s Literature and its study and it is slowly emerging as an area worth perusal. The purpose of this seminar is to generate interest in Children’s Literature and to promote academic research in this area. It proposes to bring together on the same platform, a range of children’s literature in English,

Malayalam and Hindi and look upon these works through a multitude of perspectives.
