Carson Carr Diversity Teaching/Graduate Assistantships
The School of Public Health offers Graduate Awards to students who are in good academic standing and
demonstrate merit. Students should submit a separate application for each award they wish to be
considered for.
Carson Carr Diversity Teaching/Graduate Assistantship – Awarded to MS, MPH, PhD and DrPH
students
The University at Albany offers competitive, merit-based Diversity Teaching/Graduate Assistantships to
graduate students who will contribute to the diversity of the student body in their graduate or
professional program. Carson Carr recipients will be expected to either teach or provide administrative
support over the course of their graduate program. While students new to the University at Albany will
receive first priority, currently enrolled doctoral candidates who have completed all degree
requirements except the dissertation ("ABD") may apply for assistance under this program. Current
Graduate Assistants and Teaching Assistants may also apply for a supplement to their current stipends if
such a stipend can be demonstrated to enhance their retention in graduate studies.
Stipend: The value of the award ranges from $9,000 to $17,400 depending on the degree and program
of study of the recipient. MS and MPH students receive 6 credits of tuition a year whereas PhD and DrPH
students receive 18 credits of tuition a year.
