The following information was collected during the Interview. Unless otherwise noted, all comments are
from City of Wood Village representatives.

 The contact information was verified to be correct and complete.
STARR (J. Johnson) reviewed the GIS data that has been collected for the city of Wood Village and
explained the types of additional data that could be beneficial to the project: parks, environmentally
sensitive areas, critical habitats, building footprints, parcels, topographic data (LiDAR, etc.).

Topography, LiDAR, and GIS
 All GIS data for the City of Wood Village is managed by the Metro Regional Land
Information System.
Planning
 Wood Village has their own mitigation plan in which critical facilities are identified.
During the GIS portion of the meeting, critical and important facilities were identified by
the community and captured in the Areas of Mitigation concern layer.
 There are evacuation and recovery plans in place and adopted.
 The City has not applied for a FEMA grant.
 After the major snow event of 2005-2006, the City did receive reimbursement for snow
removal expenses incurred.
 Emergency radios were obtained through county funding.
 The City has identified a desired mitigation project to earthquake proof their water
storages facilities through the addition of valves. They are currently evaluating
feasibility of this project.

Earthquakes
 There has been no known earthquake activity or damage.
Wildfires
 There is a low risk of wildfires.
Landslides
 There are soil liquefaction issues (captured in the Areas of Concern layer). To date there
have been no mitigation actions related to this. There could be potential impacts to the
county road running through the area.
Severe Storms
 There have been power outages associated with severe storm events, especially in the
winter with trees damaging the power lines. Power outages can last several hours.
 There has not been a need to shelter residents due to power outages from these
storms.
Flooding
 There are no areas in the city that show repeated patterns of flooding or flood concern.
 Flooding that occurs is typically the result of lack of maintenance by property owners.
 There is potential for issues along Arata Creek with the city of Troutdale. Specific issues
not identified, just noted it would be helpful to initiate dialogue with Troutdale.
Levees
 There are no levees present.
Environmentally Sensitive Areas
 Wood Village has adopted Metro 3, Title 13 to protect areas around drainage areas and
sensitive vegetation zones.
 The City also has their own code which contains updated maps identifying
environmentally sensitive areas, Section 430 of City Code for Wood Village.
Communications and Outreach
 There is no dedicated Floodplain Administrator, falls as a general government function.
 There are no Special Flood Hazard Areas, therefore there is not a floodplain permitting
process in place.
 The City utilizes a reverse 911 system to get emergency information out to residents.
 Residents of Wood Village get information regarding general hazards via newsletter with
monthly utility bill. The newsletter has a regional footprint and contains various hazard
related information. The community would be interested in new tools/materials to
reach their residents.
 Current awareness of the hazards in the city by residents was considered as
“satisfactory but needs improvement”.
 The City shares Emergency Management Operations capacity with the Cities of Gresham
and Troutdale and they function collectively.
