Page 2 of 2 Earthquakes There has been no known earthquake activity or damage. Wildfires There is a low risk of wildfires. Landslides There are soil liquefaction issues (captured in the Areas of Concern layer). To date there have been no mitigation actions related to this. There could be potential impacts to the county road running through the area. Severe Storms There have been power outages associated with severe storm events, especially in the winter with trees damaging the power lines. Power outages can last several hours. There has not been a need to shelter residents due to power outages from these storms. Flooding There are no areas in the city that show repeated patterns of flooding or flood concern. Flooding that occurs is typically the result of lack of maintenance by property owners. There is potential for issues along Arata Creek with the city of Troutdale. Specific issues not identified, just noted it would be helpful to initiate dialogue with Troutdale. Levees There are no levees present. Environmentally Sensitive Areas Wood Village has adopted Metro 3, Title 13 to protect areas around drainage areas and sensitive vegetation zones. The City also has their own code which contains updated maps identifying environmentally sensitive areas, Section 430 of City Code for Wood Village. Communications and Outreach There is no dedicated Floodplain Administrator, falls as a general government function. There are no Special Flood Hazard Areas, therefore there is not a floodplain permitting process in place. The City utilizes a reverse 911 system to get emergency information out to residents. Residents of Wood Village get information regarding general hazards via newsletter with monthly utility bill. The newsletter has a regional footprint and contains various hazard related information. The community would be interested in new tools/materials to reach their residents. Current awareness of the hazards in the city by residents was considered as “satisfactory but needs improvement”. The City shares Emergency Management Operations capacity with the Cities of Gresham and Troutdale and they function collectively. Other No other items or issues were identified at this time.
