Crusades! Yum
30 points (each rubric piece ½ credit)
I want to explain the Crusades to little kids. I have decided to do this by making a new cereal called the Crusades.
This cereal will explain the Crusades to the kids without them knowing it. I need your help marketing it. (Naming,
branding, box etc)
In groups of 3 (or 4 with permission), use the sections in the text book on pages 255 -259, both handouts, Laures lecture and
the movie to learn about the cereal. From this information, you should be able to figure out what the “cereal” is. (if you
don’t know “what” it is, how do you create a box and stuff for it?) This is a competition. I will only choose 1. I am the cereal
executive and I don’t know what the cereal is, I will need you to sell it to me. You will present your ideas to me when you are
done. EATER SHOULD BE EDUCATED ABOUT CRUSADES AFTER BUYING
Task:
1. Describe and/OR draw what your box will look like. It should reflect what is inside the box
2. Give an easy to understand 20 words or less ONLY description of the cereal (crusades) so that a 6 year old can
see it on the front cover of the box and understand what they will be eating
3. Create a trade character for the cereal (like Tony the Tiger). Explain why you chose it. You can describe it if you
don’t have artists in the group
4. Create 3 toys. Not all have to be IN the box, some you could buy at Target or send in the mail for. Explain how
each one will help sell the cereal (remind kids when they are playing to buy more). No artists? Describe is ok.
5. Create 1 puzzle for the back of the box.
6. A list of ingredients for the side of the box: contains 20% royal Knights, 10% Constantinople, 5% boredom, 1%
Pope Urban (this should be a list of the ingredients not just the people of the Crusades)
7. Create a slogan for the cereal
