7/21 Robotics Competitions at MIT (MIT 機器人競賽)
MIT hosts a number of different robotics competitions which teach
students elements of robot design, construction, and programming. This
talk touches on a few examples of such classes, drawing from both the
Mechanical Engineering and the EECS departments. The varying
focuses of different competitions will be explored, from mechanical
design, to autonomy and computer vision.
7/22 MIT Capstone Engineering Classes (MIT 頂石課程/終端課程)
The capstone class is a senior undergraduate design project
required by most of MIT’s engineering departments. It is a
demonstration of the knowledge from study in a student’s major, and
involves a one- or two-semester project that presents challenges similar
to those faced in graduate school and industry. The different structures,
projects, and goals of capstone classes are discussed, and an example is
provided from this past year’s Space Systems Engineering capstone.
7/24 Coding Competitions at MIT (MIT 程式競賽)
MIT is home to a large number of coding competitions that teach
students various aspects of computer science, project management, and
application design. Two different competitions will be discussed in this
talk: Battlecode and HackMIT. Battlecode is an AI programming
competition held annually during the month of January, and is open to
the public. HackMIT is an annual hackathon that provides an intense
period in which university students work to build cutting-edge software
and hardware projects.
