Letter of Intent for AWEC Project
Dear Annette von Jouanne:
This Letter of Intent confirms Oregon State University’s O.H. Hinsdale Research
Laboratory’s (Wave Research Lab) desire to work with Annette von Jouanne
to provide testing for the AWEC project at the O.H. Hinsdale Research Laboratory
facility.
This Letter of Intent is not intended to be contractual in nature, but is a statement of the
general terms under consideration in order to prepare for entering into a Testing
Agreement in form and content satisfactory to both parties, to initiate design, and
schedule/secure date/s for facility use.

The services that the Wave Research Lab will provide include
experimental design in preparation for testing at the facility. This
includes: discussions about specimen design and scale, preparation,
contracting and planning for specimen construction including cost
estimates; bathymetry design including type of material and/or estimated
construction costs if applicable; sensor and instrumentation setup
including number, type and locations; wave climate including water
depths, wave types and wave heights. Design documents might include
instrumentation layout drawings, specimen drawings, and a wave testing
matrix to be used to estimate total testing days. Any contractor or other
fees and service cost estimates will be included if applicable.

Project costs are based on full use of facility, equipment, and staff
assistance. A minimum 10% or $280/day of estimated facility use is
charged to each project based upon the effort of experiment design work
with client prior to actual experiment occurring at the facility. Facility time
will not be scheduled until the Design Fee is received.
Rate: $2,800 per day
Duration: 10 Day/s
10% Experiment Design Fee: $280 due upon signature
Total Estimated Cost: $28,000
If no such Testing Agreement is finalized by 03/01/2013 Client understands OSU retains
the Experiment Design Fee for the hours and expenses incurred.
