INTRODUCTION All programs of IUBAT — International University of Business Agriculture and Technology stress on a student ability to express ideas with clarity and precision. This requires a solid foundation in mathematics. The candidates who have deficiency in mathematics are to complete this course, preferably before starting sophomore courses. II. AIMS AND OBJECTIVE The course is intended to: i) ii) iii) iv) v) Train the students to apply their knowledge of mathematics in the quantitative area using English as a medium. Review the student’s knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus and Statistics. Provide broad concept of mathematics to develop skills to relate different areas of mathematics for problem solving purposes. Enrich the students reasoning ability and calculative ability. Develop confidence, satisfaction and resourcefulness so that he or she can deal any problem, with care and efficiently even under stressed condition. III. COURSE CONTENTS Review of numbers: whole numbers, Integers, Rational and irrational numbers, Real numbers, Scientific Notations, Measurement and Data handling: System of units, Quantities, Units, Ratio, Proportion, Physical quantities, Dimension, Applied Geometry: Lines, Angles and Polygons: Area, Perimeter, SI Systems: its advantages, Operating on data, Handling significant digits, Rounding, Algebraic expressions, Binomial, Trinomial, Factoring and algebraic fractions, Linear Equations and Inequalities with one variable, linear functions and graphing, Variation, Basic topics on trigonometry, Problems with right triangles, Trigonometry in Surveying, Linear Systems, Linear Equations with one and two variables, Radicals and complex numbers, i-operator, Quadratic equations: its solutions, Graph of quadratic equations, Application of Quadratic systems, Angle measurement, Vector resolution, Logarithm and Exponentials.
