Year 3 Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy- Evaluation Tender Brief Introduction The Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Programme is a 3 year (2013-16) national collaborative programme of training, traineeships, coaching, digital skills and innovative practice. The programme aims to both improve the perceptions of the arts as a charitable cause and professionalise fundraising within the sector, with a key aim of encouraging more entrepreneurial practice. Working with trustee boards, CEOs, senior managers and emerging talent the programme seeks to inspire, coach and resource entrepreneurial leaders within the sector and ensure the training and development of a professional arts fundraising workforce. The programme is delivered by a consortium including the University of Leeds and leading arts, training and fundraising organisations working in partnership with ACE National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) and the wider arts sector. The University of Leeds has been evaluating the Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy Programme since its inception. A copy of the Executive Summary of the Year 1 Evaluation, can be found here: http://artsfundraising.org.uk/evaluation/ Due to reduced capacity within the Evaluation Team, we are now tendering for an individual/team to support the delivery of the final year of evaluation fieldwork. 1 Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Programme Evaluation The Evaluation Team at the University of Leeds includes: Lead investigator: Dr Ben Walmsley, School of Performance and Cultural Industries Co-Investigator: Dr James Stark, Arts Engaged Fellow, Faculty of Arts Evaluation Project Manager: Liz Harrop, Cultural & Creative Industries Exchange The team is responsible for evaluating the experience, management and effectiveness of the 3 year funded national programme. http://artsfundraising.org.uk/ The research team work with a range of professionals, trustees and new graduates based within arts and cultural organizations to ensure a 360 degree impression of the outcomes and impact of the programme is gathered from all stakeholders. The team is also supported by consortium partnership lead Sue Hayton, Business Development Manager Cultural & Creative Industries Exchange and lead educationalist Professor David Platten, Pro-Dean Faculty of Arts, University of Leeds, whose roles are to inform development of the programme, ensure clear communication with consortium partners, coherence of the learner journey and establishment of Quality Assurance standards. The programme evaluation is being delivered against an evaluation strategy agreed with all programme consortium partners and takes a formative and summative approach to provide: • Data and analysis on the efficacy of the programme to inform ongoing planning/delivery; • Annual summaries of outcomes/outputs to inform policy and practice The evaluation examines: • The experience, development and progress of individual learners, organisations and cultural shift within the sector over the period of the programme delivery. In particular it assesses impact against the following ACE criteria • Ensure more income is generated for the arts from private giving and businesses • Develop the skills of individuals and organisations seeking to fundraise from the private sector 2 • Achieve a demonstrable change in the professionalism of the arts fundraising sector by building on existing best practice across the whole charity fundraising sector from the UK and further afield, and sharing that best practice widely • Build a peer-to-peer leadership community which positions arts fundraising as a competitive, desirable and progressive career and which retains, develops and widens the talent pool • Ensure that arts organisations better address the needs of current and prospective donors, as well as attracting first-time givers to the arts • Develop an enterprising culture in which fundraising is placed at the heart of an arts organisation's business model and ethos, enabling organisations to better integrate their fundraising work with their artistic ambitions and their audience development activity and, by so doing, helping organisations better understand and articulate their case for support • Maximise learning through knowledge exchange, resources and thought leadership 3 Delivery We would like to commission an individual/team to provide research assistance to the University of
