Signature and Submission Institutional Agreement Principal Applicant: Institution Administering Funds: Institution Contact Information (primary contact person details): The above Institution hereby approves the Application of the Principal Applicant and certifies and undertakes to the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation that: • the Principal Applicant meets or will meet the eligibility requirements at the time of the announced funding start date of the competition; • the Institution is eligible to receive Tri-Council funds; • the Institution agrees with the content of the application and will provide the committed resources; • the information provided in the application meets all requirements and is consistent with institutional policies; • the Institution will ensure that any research carried out with funds from NSHRF/PHAC complies fully with the policies and guidelines in the conduct of research and agrees to administer any grant/award resulting from an application, according to NSHRF terms and conditions and financial obligations of using NSHRF/PHAC funds; • the Institution will investigate, by appropriate procedures, any allegations of conduct inconsistent with the funding opportunity requirements and NSHRF terms and conditions in connection with the use of NSHRF/PHAC funds; • the Institution will report to the NSHRF the results of any investigation when an applicant or recipient of NSHRF/PHAC funds has infringed the funding opportunity requirements or NSHRF terms and conditions; • the Institution will ensure that research carried out with the requested funds will respect national ethics policies and guidelines and that ethics approval will be acquired from a duly constituted research ethics board/committee; • the Institution will provide grant/award holders with the necessary time to do their research; • the Principal Applicant's research and knowledge translation activities conform to institutional policies relating to intellectual property and conflict of interest; • the Institution agrees to the public release of a summary of the grant or award and to publication of the organization's name as a supporter of the initiative; • the Institution will take every reasonable action to acknowledge NSHRF/PHAC funding in its communications related to funded applications; • the Institution has policies and procedures in place to ensure that the academic interests of students and post-doctoral fellows are managed in the best interest of the trainee; • the Institution has adequate safeguards in place to protect sensitive information entrusted to it by NSHRF for the purpose of administering applications and resulting grants and awards; and • subject to its intellectual property policy, the Institution will endeavor to obtain the greatest possible economic benefit to Canada, with a similar aim to improve the health of Canadians, from any commercial activity resulting from the research funding.
