Catholic School’s Week
Thank you to everyone who helped to make
this year’s Catholic Schools Week (CSW)
celebration a big success.
Even though the beginning to CSW was
delayed due to the cold weather, the faculty
and students quickly picked up steam once
school resumed on Wednesday, Jan. 29th.
Being Spirit Day, the faculty, staff and
students proudly wore the school colors of
blue and gold. The teachers/staff continued
their winning streak by beating the 8th graders
in our annual Faculty/Staff vs. 8th Graders
volleyball game.
On Thursday, the faculty and students
prepared for our annual Open House. After
diligently working in the morning, the
students were treated in the afternoon to the
movie, Despicable Me 2.
Our Open House which ran from 4:00pm
until 7:00pm was well attended by many of
our current school families, parishioners and
new families interested in OLQP.
Our CSW celebration continued into the
following week, with our VIP Day. During
the All School Mass, the school recognized
Father Spitz as 2014 VIP Award Recipient.
Father has been our pastor for the past twelve
years. During that time, OLQP has moved
forward in technology with the addition of
SmartBoards, iPads and Chromebooks. He
has taken the students around the world with
the help of Google Earth. Being a teacher at
heart, Fr. Spitz has taken every opportunity
not only to inspire but instruct the students in
the teachings of
our faith. He also coaches students in public
speaking as well as in the proper way to light
a play or to operate a sound board. Father
doesn’t hesitate to offer support where
needed with his words of praise or
encouragement.
We feel very fortunate to have a pastor who
is so involved in our school!
CSW ended on Tuesday, Feb. 4th Buddy
Day. Students dressed in the same color as
their buddy class.
The theme for our
Morning Prayer was “Open My Eyes to the
Lord”. Students were given bracelets to
remind them that they are a part of the
OLQP school community and to always look
at others through the eyes of Jesus.
The faculty, staff and students would like to
thank all who supported our fundraising
events. Thank you also to those who donated
jars of peanut butter for the Milwaukee Food
pantries.
Congratulations to our CSW winners:

Attendance Matters
In order to provide an effective incentive for
students, the Milwaukee Bucks and Wendy’s
have teamed up again and are pleased to
announce that ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
will be in place again this season.
This program will enable any student who
achieves prefect classroom attendance during
the month of February the opportunity to
receive a special complimentary ticket offer.
In addition, student attendees will receive a
choice of either a free kids meal or single
combo hamburger meal at Wendy’s.
Cold Weather Days
Just a reminder to please make sure to send
your child to school with a warm coat, a hat,
a scarf and gloves because as long as the wind
chill is above 0°, the students will be going
outdoors for recess.
Also please follow the uniform dress code for
the types of sweaters and sweatshirts that can
be worn during the day. NO HOODIES
Boots may be worn to school, but not during
the school day.

Please make a point to visit our new website.
We recently have created a Facebook account
for OLQP, so please take a moment to like
our page. Lastly, remember to check both
regularly for the latest updates and events
happening at OLQP.
Tardy Passes
School Absences
Please remind your child that if they arrive at
school later than 7:45am, they MUST stop in
the school office before going to class to
receive a tardy pass as well as inform us if
they will be having hot lunch.
Please remember that if your child is going to
be absent, a parent/guardian must phone or
e-mail the school office before 9:00am. In
addition to a phone call, State Law requires a
written, dated note for any absence. The note
must have your child’s name, the date(s) your
child was absent and the parent/guardians’
signature.
Flu Season
Please remember that you are the school’s
first line of defense against the flu. The most
important thing you can do is keep your child
home if he or she is ill. All sick students
should stay home from school for at least 24
hours after their fever is gone without the use
of Tylenol® or Ibuprofen®. Children who
are ill upon arrival to school or become ill
during the school day will need to be picked
up. Therefore it is important to make sure
your emergency information is up to date.
Lastly, please remember to notify the school
office if your child is home with the flu.
School Field Trips/
Playground Duty
Please remember that in order to chaperone a
school field trip or volunteer in the school it is
required by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee
that you complete the “Safeguarding All God’s
Family” training course and submit your
completion form to the school office.
In order to register for a course, you need to
go to archmil.org and click on the
“Safeguarding All God’s Family” link, then
click on the upcoming sessions link. You
then can scroll through the different
upcoming sessions and choose the one that
best fits your schedule.
