Harrisburg, PA —The 2011 Summer Favorites Retail Display Contest was heating up June and
July sales in the ice cream and novelties department with help from the National Frozen &
Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA). The most creative merchandising displays were awarded in six regional categories – Northeast, East Central, Pacific/Western, Southeast,
Southwest, and West Central
– with a total of 18 Gold and 20 Silver Penguin Awards.

This year, the prestigious Amber Penguin will be presented to four companies who have won three consecutive Gold Penguins in the same category. In the Southeast division, the Amber award goes to Winn Dixie Stores, Inc. of Jacksonville, FL, assisted by North Florida Frozen &
Refrigerated Foods Association from Fleming Island, FL. In the Southwest division, the Amber winner is Hy-Vee Belton from Belton, MO, assi sted by Wells Enterprises Inc. of Lee’s Summit,
MO. The winners are invited to accept their Gold and Amber Penguins at the Grand Awards
Banquet on October 25, 2011, during the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Convention in
Orlando, FL.
The winning di splays were honored for their creative presentations of the 23 sponsoring brands’ ice cream and novelty products using NFRA point of sale materials and their own custom merchandising items. The promotion was also supported by three exciting initiatives to keep the consumers engaged – Mr. Food teamed up with NFRA to host an entire Ice Cream & Novelties show and share great recipe ideas; the Summer Favorites Coupon Giveaway Contest gave weekly winners free manufacturers’ coupons; and NFRA’s Easy Home Meals consumer
Facebook page kept Fans updated and interacting.
