St. John Bosco P.S. Newsletter – November 2015 Thanks to everyone who came to the recent parent meetings , we really value the interaction with parents and the conversations around the children’s learning. We hope to develop this further with a parent meeting later this term, an opportunity to explore how we can all work together to promote the children’s learning even further. The Department of Education have just launched their latest campaign : Education Works , it has a dedicated online site that provides practical tips and learning ideas to help ensure children get the best possible support. Check out the site on: http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/education-works Happy Birthday to all our November Birthdays Nichola Lynn, Carla O’Neill, Sorcha Neeson, Che Scullion, Aoibhinn Rea, Aisling McGarry, Adam McCutcheon, Caitlin McKay, Cormac McFall, Kate McErlean, Fiontan McGlinchey School Closures School will close at 1.00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28th for all pupils and re-open on Tuesday, November 3rd. Flu Vaccine The flu vaccine, which is a nasal spray, will be given to all children with signed consent forms on Wednesday, November 11th. Implementing our Good to Be Green Behaviour policy is one area where we require full cooperation with parents ,staff and pupils. If your child comes home and reports that they have received a red or yellow card then please reinforce the message of making good choices in school. Please do not challenge the teacher’s decision as there is always a period of warning before a card is issued and we truly want every child to remain on the Green Card each day .Also remember to praise your child when they have remained on the green card, it is really Good to be Green ! This month we are delighted to announce that: 87 % of our pupils remained on the Green Card, an improvement of over 15 % since last month . Sadly we had 12 % of pupils who received a yellow card and 1% of pupils received a red card. All children who remained on a Green Card will be rewarded with a little extra Halloween treat ,an opportunity for them to see that making good choices pays off.
