This course focuses on extensive reading and writing practice to improve confidence and to further reading and writing competence. Students will learn to read for main ideas and use new vocabulary strategies. They will also generate and organize ideas into short essays, proof read for basic errors and improve grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary. Academic Reading & Writing ( Level- 2 ) 7. This course is the second level in a two part series for students who want to improve their academic reading and writing skills in preparation for university studies. Within the context of meaningful writing tasks students will develop skills in writing effective sentences, paragraphs and short essays and will be given the opportunity to practice the different stages of writing from rough draft through editing to final draft. Strategies and tips on how to present clear arguments and structure an effective persuasive paper will also be given. High-interest academic texts will provide context for writing tasks while helping students to build relevant academic vocabulary and skills.
