More than 800 local governments participate in the CCP, integrating climate change mitigation into their decision-making processes. ICLEI runs this highly successful and widely recognized campaign either regionally or nationally in Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan, Latin America, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the United States.” From EPD Air Quality site: In April 1999, the County Commission adopted a resolution allowing Alachua County to join the Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) campaign. The CCP program is a global campaign to reduce greenhouse gas. As part of the County’s participation in the campaign, the County has voluntarily committed to undertake the following tasks: 1. Develop a greenhouse gas inventory for and forecast Alachua County 2. Establish an emissions target: For County Govt; 20% reduction from 1990 levels by 2010. 3. Develop and obtain approval for Local Action Plan 4. Implement policies and measures: See 2002 GHG Reduction Local Action Plan and 2002 GHG Reduction Local Action Plan Program Strategy 5.
