Clinic Schedule
Why Attend?
It’s not every day that you find so many horse
professionals all in one place. And the best
part is that they are all here to help you and
your horse! This non-competitive
educational opportunity brings together
youth and their mounts with some of the top
trainers in New England. Our goal is not only
to improve the skill of our 4-H riders, but also
to expose them to new disciplines and
training methods. Participants are strongly
encouraged to as questions to learn as much
as possible. We do ask that if youth are
attending with a trainer or teaching parent
that they do not disrupt the learning
situation. The clinics are for the 4-H youth,
and if adults have questions they may ask the
clinician at the conclusion of the event. Your
registration fee will help defray program
costs and any additional funds will go back
into the CT 4-H Horse Program. Your
attendance this year could be critical for this
event to continue next year.

Tai Chi with Horses – Patricia Norcia
About Us
Patricia Norcia was introduced to tai chi as a student at the Yale School for Drama and went on to teach breathing techniques to singers and dancers at major universities. She says,
“The benefits can be felt the very next time you get in the saddle…it’s very powerful.” This clinic will discuss how to lower breathing, increase relaxation, improve spinal alignment, and enhance
one’s powers of visualization and balance. Norcia notes that the horse’s natural rhythm is slower than ours and credits tai chi’s focus on balanced slowmovement as the link that connects the
horse and rider, ultimately uniting them to move as one. The first half of this clinic will focus on unmounted exercises in Tai Chi for equestrians. The second half will incorporate the principles of
Tai Chi on horseback (walk/trot/canter). SPECIAL NOTE: This is a 2 hour clinic.
