Units of study
To achieve a Diploma of Beauty Therapy you will attend TAFE three days per week for one year. You
will be required to successfully complete 33 units of study.
You will receive your course delivery and assessment program when you attend your first class.
You will also receive all of your learning materials, assessment information and recognition of prior
learning (RPL) information when you attend class.

What Should I Bring To My First Class?
On your first day of attendance please bring the following:
□ Your user name and password (you will find this on your receipt or letter that was sent to you
when you enrolled and paid)
□ A black pen
□ A folder with plastic sleeves to put your notes and booklets in
□ □ Water, morning tea and lunch (There is a canteen on site if you wish to purchase food and
beverages)
On your first day your class teacher will explain all about your course and take you on a tour of the
college.

Student clothing & footwear requirement
It is mandatory that all students adhere to the uniform requirements, as per current WH&S
regulations for the correct Personal Protective Equipment for the hair & beauty industry.
The Work Health & Safety Act and Work Cover require that all students MUST wear a regulation
coverall and shoes when in the Sydney Institute Hairdressing and Beauty section classrooms.
You will not be permitted to participate in your class if you do not wear the correct clothing and
footwear.
This is an example of correct footwear. Black fully enclose shoes or boots (No canvas or sneakers
allowed)
Our Diploma students will be asked to purchase a Black uniform top.
Your How to order form will make this process easy for you. There are optional black pants available
also or you may purchase your own black pants. (Please note tights / leggings or jeans are not
allowed)
More information on your uniform will be provided at a later date.
