Name _______________________________________________
Due Date 12/15
“EL Libro De Los Gustos”
Objetivo: Create a “children's’ book” entirely in Spanish that can be shared with elementary school students. The book will
demonstrate your knowledge of expressing likes/dislikes in Spanish of yourself and another person/character.
Your task:
__________1. Decide on whether the book will be about you and a person you know or if you will take on the role of
different characters. Decide on who the characters will be. The likes/dislikes in the story must follow along with the main
characters/theme of the book. Part of the book must be in 1st person (I like/I don’t like…) and part must be in singular 3rd
person (He/she likes/ doesn’t like…).
__________2. Decide how you will create your book. You may use paper, art materials, the computer, etc. However, the final
product must be completed before the due date to be shared with the class and beyond. If you are using the computer, use
the accent mark codes to insert accents.
__________3. Use accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation throughout the book. Start with a rough draft of your
sentences on a sheet of paper and have at least one peer edit your sentences before the final product is begun. You may also
ask your teacher to circle any mistakes one time before creating the final product.
__________4.Introduce yourself (or the character in 1st person) in complete Spanish sentences.
-Include a visual of you/the character
-Write your name in a complete sentence
-Write where you are from in a complete sentence
__________4.Introduce the other person in the 3rd person in complete Spanish sentences.
-Include a visual of the character
-Write their name in a complete sentence
-Wrote where he/she is from in a complete sentence
__________5. Discuss your (or the character that you are pretending to be) likes/dislikes (in 1st person)
-Include at least 2 likes
-Include at least 2 dislikes
-Include a visual of every like and dislike
__________6. Discuss the likes/dislikes of another person (in the 3rd person)
-Include at least 2 likes
-Include at least 2 dislikes
-Visual of every like and dislike
__________5. Present your book to the class “show and tell” style, speaking entirely in Spanish. Be sure to use accurate
pronunciation when reading your book. See the speaking rubric as a guide for how you will be graded. To prepare, you should
practice reading your book out loud several times with someone else. After you present, you will be asked one Spanish
question about your or your character’s likes by your teacher. Be prepared to answer the question in a complete Spanish
sentence.
__________6. As you view the presentations, you will be required to take brief notes in Spanish on the likes/dislikes of the
presentor (or the character that the presentor portrays).
Other important notes:
Translators/dictionaries may only be used to look up the words if verified/checked
by the teacher. Your objective is to show what you know, so vocabulary in your
book should be words that you already know/are on the vocabulary. If translators
are used for full questions/sentences, it is considered plagiarism and you will be
penalized.
There should be absolutely no English in the book whatsoever. The title of your
book should even be in Spanish.
You will be graded on the following:
Writing:
a) 10 points: Written booklet, sentences
(see World Languages Writing Rubric)
b) 4 points: Appropriate visual for each like/dislike
c) 2 points: Creativity and visual appeal
Speaking:
d) 10 points: Presentation of book and Answering teacher’s question about
interests portrayed in book
(see attached World Languages Speaking Rubric)
