Job Summary: The person hired for the position of Maintenance Supervisor will provide supervision and technical direction to craftspeople for performance of maintenance tasks on machines, systems, or facilities to maximize reliability and runtime of production operations. This person will also lead stockroom operations as well as provide oversight for security and janitorial operations. In addition, this person will be responsible for planning and coordinating schedules for preventative maintenance work and work order completion to ensure effective utilization of the maintenance workforce while maximizing equipment utilization. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Communicates safety principles and regulations to all subordinates and monitors operations for compliance. Assists with safety investigations as required. * Schedules, assigns, and directs craftspeople in performance of their tasks for maintenance of equipment and/or facilities. Provides technical direction to craftspeople and assists in diagnosing equipment problems as required. * Trains craftspeople in job requirements and basic technical skills, and recommends training programs as needed to develop and maintain the capabilities of the work force. * Coordinates work schedules with appropriate production units and other Plant Engineering units to expedite work, minimize interruptions in production, and ensure the effective utilization of the work force. * Plans and coordinates the Preventive Maintenance program and monitors ongoing performance to maximize reliability and runtime of equipment. Evaluates equipment and maintenance history to determine and establish appropriate Preventive Maintenance requirements. * Leads plant stockroom, security, and janitorial operations in support of plant operations. * Reviews and analyzes incoming shop work orders to identify materials and maintenance labor requirements. Works with operations and the Plant Engineering group to coordinate work order completion. * Develops daily and weekly maintenance work schedule based on materials availability, priority of request, operations requirements, and craftsperson availability Basic Qualifications: * High School diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution * Minimum of two (2) years experience as a maintenance journeyman Preferred Qualifications: * Maintenance skills and knowledge of engineering concepts, procedures, and methods to direct craftspeople to maintain machines, systems, or facilities * Knowledge of the basic elements of all crafts at a level required to identify materials, craftspeople, time, priorities, and other requirements for scheduling and completing preventive maintenance and shop work orders * Technical knowledge and practical application skills in mechanical, electrical, or electronics disciplines * Experience as a lead craftsperson and/or demonstrated aptitude for leadership of craftspeople in accomplishment of maintenance tasks * Minimum of 4 years experience as a maintenance journeyman and a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of systems and equipment with the plant area served * Ability to read mechanical, electrical and architectural blueprints to evaluate job needs and to ensure those prints are adequate for guidance in completing work * An understanding of work order processing and its relationship to department functions and operations * A demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from productions, maintenance, and engineering to ensure cooperative support in planning and scheduling of work * Strong communication and organization skills Location: Knoxville, IA Travel: Is not anticipated at this time Relocation: Is not authorized About 3M Do you see the world differently?
