Job objectives and responsibilities
 To manage, control and oversee all aspects of BAL airfield security contract security operation on a shift
basis, ensuring compliance with all Department for Transport (DfT) directions and BAL operating procedures.
You will be responsible for a number of key areas including service delivery, personnel management,
standards monitoring, incident management and regulation enforcement, providing a quality security
product and meeting customer requirements.
Main duties
 To manage and monitor all aspects of security requirements of the airfield security contract, visiting various
geographical locations at key critical workload times.

To ensure that all relevant DfT directions are maintained and any problems are identified and rectified
immediately. This includes close supervision of all security personnel, ensuring they carry out their jobs to the
required standards of DfT directives and BAL operations procedures.

To ensure compliance with all Health & Safety Directives to maintain a safe working environment;
investigating and recommending immediate change to any unsafe working practices. This will include
conducting regular site H&S inspections.

To act as Security Liaison for emergency services.

To receive and investigate complaints from staff, passengers and other parties, acting promptly to remedy or
taking preventative action to maintain a high standard of customer care.

To conduct and monitor staff appraisals of supervisors and security agents in line with company policy and
encourage further development. Identifying training needs through staff assessments and setting measurable

objectives to develop staff to their full potential.

Ensure all levels of security staff are trained and capable of carrying out their duties to the required standards.
Conducting and applying ‘on the job’ training as and when required in order to maintain standards.

To ensure that the points and geographical locations are fully staffed and that all assignments receive the
required level of supervision.

To provide assistance for staff that experiences any welfare difficulties, deal with and investigate complaints
through to resolution. When unable to resolve report the issue to the assistant Security Operations Manager.

To ensure that all administrative tasks are completed in a timely fashion and to the required standard.

To act as out-of-hours on-call security manager when required and in the absence of the Assistant Security
Operations Manager and Security Operations Manager, act as the focal point of contact.

Support H&S efforts of the Company, understand and comply with H&S Policy.

Advise fellow employees when unsafe acts and/or conditions occur through undertaking self-inspections of
the workplace.

Report all occupational injuries, illnesses, environment spills or fire, regardless of severity, to management
immediately.

Report hazards which may result in an injury, illness, spill or fire to supervisor.

Follow all established Rules and Procedures (e.g., using prescribed PPE and ergonomic methods, procedures,
tools, etc.) to ensure safe performance of a given task.

Compile Rosters and Manage leave and shortfall cover

Ensure that all staff are working to and have seen and read SOPS

Manage welfare and performance to first disciplinary level i.e. verbal warning

Be aware of and monitor internal SLA’S KPI,S

Proactively seek continuous service improvements

Ensure staff are in company uniform and maintain standards of dress

Compile a daily handover for oncoming DM

Provide a daily report to the Security Operations Manager

Ensure all security equipment is tested on a daily/weekly basis ensuring the correct method is followed and
paperwork completed.

Ensure all security personnel receive 6hrs computer based training on the x-ray training system within a 6
month time frame


Person Specification
 Smart in appearance.

 Proven management experience at the appropriate level.
