The primary purpose of the conference is to provide accurate, evidence-based information to
physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and other providers with the most
current information on common pediatric problems, as well as offer practical solutions to more
complex dilemmas that occur in pediatric care. As a result of participating in this activity, the
attendee should be able to…..
 Utilize current guidelines and evidence-based medicine, as indicated within each topic’s
specific objectives, with a focus on diagnosis, treatment and referral
 Apply proper life-stabilizing measures as well as identify the life-threatening
emergencies as requiring urgent treatment and /or hospital admission
 Organize an approach to diagnosis and test ordering
 Provide effective treatment, referral or follow-up care with the overall goal of improving
patient outcomes.

Target Audience: Family Medicine Physicians, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, OB/GYN
Physicians, Surgeons, APNs and PAs, Pharmacists, Emergency Physicians, Nurses, and other
health care providers who desire to update their knowledge in pediatric care.

for this conference and an additional 1.5 CNE credits for the optional
Saturday afternoon workshop. East Tennessee State University College of
Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the
Tennessee Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Physician Assistants may participate in this educational activity and earn a certificate of
completion as AAPA, AANP, and ANCC accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM through their
reciprocity agreement.
