The Voice of Majesty Psa. 29 Sunday, July 26, 2015 Pastor Alan Morse First Baptist Church of South Lake Tahoe He is a King of glory, of beauty, of power; He sits upon the flood, the Lord sits as King forever. The Call To Worship “1Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. 2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” Give God the glory. In everything good and wonderful that comes our way in life, recognize that it came from our wonderful Lord, and give thanks and glorify Him before others. Lift up His name in praise, and make known the wonderful things God has done in our lives. Let our testimony for Christ resound and tell what God has done in our lives. Let the mighty and the strongest of us tell of how God found us in weakness and hopelessness, and that our strength comes from His strength through our weakness. We are nothing in ourselves, but when Jesus came into our lives, He did a mighty work and changed all that. What we are today, and who God has made us into, is such a profound work of grace, we glorify His Name every day because we know all that we are came from God. Give God the glory every day; honor God with your life. Give your simple testimony every day, everywhere you go, how Jesus came into your life and saved your soul, and changed 1 The Voice of Majesty Sunday, 7/26/15 your life. Tell your personal story of the wonderful things that Jesus has done for you, what it means to be a Christian, and through it lead many people to Christ throughout your lifetime. You can give no greater glory to God, or higher worship than when you decide to genuinely live to glorify God, lift up the Cross, and through the beautiful person God has made you into in Jesus, you lead others to Christ. It is due unto His Name. We owe it to God, we glory in God, and we want passionately our lives to count for Christ. When we go out the door, be resolute that this very day we want to lift up His Name, not ours, and honor God before others. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. We want to sanctify ourselves, set our lives apart from sin and be exclusively the holy servants of God in how we live. Let Jesus shine through us in a beautiful life where people see Him in us. People will look at us and say, “Look at the great things God has done in that man’s life”, and will turn to the Lord. Turn heads for Jesus. In the last days when the world is at its darkest and the people are celebrating the grossest forms of sin, God says, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” (Dan. 12:3) There will come a day, at the coming of the Lord, where our testimony for Christ held true, and God will be faithful to lavishly reward His people in ways that we could never imagine. As we shine for Jesus down here, we will shine for Jesus in Heaven as the stars for ever and ever. We think we may be doing so very little, but people every day are watching us, and in very quiet ways our consistent lives for Christ are turning many to righteousness. Those 2 The Voice of Majesty Sunday, 7/26/15 people we led to Christ when we didn’t know it, will be there to greet us on the other side in the presence of Jesus. Shine, Jesus, shine! His Daily Show of Power The voice of the Lord emphasizes that not only does God speak, but He speaks with power, beauty and glory. We need to listen up every day; God is speaking all around us. He is reminding us that He is a great God of infinite glory Who is there for us. “3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters:” Standing by the ocean’s tide, the crashing of the powerful waves upon the beach and the raging surf as it comes in like a furious storm and crashes into the rocks, and shoots straight up, high into the air: God made it all. He is a God of majesty and glory; His presence is with us. Listen to His voice, He’s got something to say every day. “3 The God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters”. He is in the thunder and the lightning, as the lightning strikes in glory and majesty across the skies and lights up the heavens, His voice rolls in mighty thunder in power and glory as it explodes like the voice of God in the heavens about us. We listen in awe. He is a God of majesty, a God of glory, a God of beauty. He is a God Who speaks. He’s speaking every day all around us. Listen up, He has something to say. “4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty”. There is power in the Name of the Lord, there is strength in the Name of the Lord; let all the earth stand in awe and praise the Name of the Lord, for it is full of majesty. He is King! 3 The Voice of Majesty Sunday, 7/26/15 “5 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.” The lightning strikes the mighty redwoods in the great forests, the thunder explodes, and the mightiest things of God’s creation are crushed like they are nothing before His power. Jeremiah said, “Is not My word like a fire, and like a hammer that breaketh the rock?” The Word of God is of exceedingly great power. “Heaven and earth shall pass away but My Word shall never pass away.” It’s not going to come and go like everything else in this world. It had the first say at creation when God spoke the universe into place, and space was created as it exploded out in billions of light years as a tent for man to dwell in. the Word speaks today through Jesus Christ and the Word of God and shatters sin in the dark soul of man, and opens up the eyes of the most hardened sinner to see Jesus. It daily changes lives radically for Jesus, as it transforms our lives into a new creation. Heb. 4:12 “The Word of God is quick, and powerful, more powerful than a double-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” When we meditate on it day and night, and observe everything that is in it and live by it, God will make our lives prosperous and give us good success. Josh. 1:8 O’ taste and see that the Lord is gracious. He that looks to the Lord and the Word of God and trembles at it, who is of a broken and contrite heart, there is no end to the goodness of God that He will pour out upon your life. And the Word of God will have the last say. 4 The Voice of Majesty Sunday, 7/26/15 Rev. 19 “11 And I saw Heaven opened, and behold a white horse, and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.” The Word of God, Jesus Christ, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, is coming again. The heavens are going to be opened up before the Word of His power, He will shout like a man of war, scatter His enemies and take them down to the Valley of Armageddon and have the last say to those who hated Him and rejected the Word of God, and His Son, the Living Word of God. He will bring the nations before Him, and judge them for their deeds. The righteous will go out into eternity with Him, but the wicked He will cast into Hell. He will have the last word, you can count on that! Receive His Word today, embrace it, treasure it, and make sure you live by it. Don’t fool with God. Heb. 12:25 “See that you refuse not Him that speaketh…” John 5:24, Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” Be saved today! God speaks with majesty. “7 the voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire 8 the voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.” He shaketh the earth to pieces. The great volcano rises up out of the earth’s crust and explodes out, and everything in its path is melted away like it is nothing. The earth quakes 5 The Voice of Majesty Sunday, 7/26/15 before the Lord, and rocks the planet back and forth like it’s nothing more than a toy; it breaks apart, and everything in its path is leveled to the ground. The Lord thunders from on high, and the Most High utters His voice (II Sam 22) Let all the earth fear the Lord, let all the earth stand in awe and reverence His holy Name. Prov. 9:10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Let all the earth fear the Lord, let all the inhabitants of the earth stand in awe of Him; for the Lord is good and His righteousness endureth forever, for the Lord spake and it stood fast. The only thing that is secure in this old, dying earth that will one day pass away is Jesus Christ, and knowing Him as your personal Savior. “9The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.” In His temple everyone doth speak of His glory. He is a God of glory, and where the people of God gather together to worship He is at the center of it all, and we, with one voice, with one mind, glorify His great and holy Name. He is our God; He is a God of majesty. 6 The Voice of Majesty Sunday, 7/26/15 The Lord Reigns On High “10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.” The Lord’s throne is upon the flood. He is King of Kings. The Lord will descend from on high and walk down from Gethsemene, through the Kidron Valley, up to the Temple Mount, walk through the eastern gate, enter into the Temple of God on Mt. Zion, into the Holy of Holies and take His throne, sitting down as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This world belongs to Him, and He’s coming again to take it back. The saints will return with Him from on high and we will reign with Him forever and ever. The Lord will take the weakest of us and give us the strength of Joshua. The Lord will bless His people with peace like a river that flows from the throne of God. Heaven is going to be a glorious place; glory, glory, glory to God! 7 The Voice of Majesty Sunday, 7/26/15
