Participant ability is assessed in a controlled environment before commencing the activity
Adequate training prior to boarding
Helmet, arm guards, wrist guards, knee pads must be fitted correctly and worn at all times
Speed of group is controlled by the leader, it should be appropriate to the group ability
Ground conditions and terrain hazards are continually assessed by the instructor
Participants are instructed to maintain adequate stopping distance from the rider in front
Participants are asked to ride sensibly at all times
Long hair to be tied back in a low style for activities so the helmet may be fitted correctly
There should be no loose jewellery, scarves or objects worn that may become entangled
Jackets to be zipped, buttoned up or taken off
Long loose pants should be avoided so they don’t get stuck in gear system
Boards are regularly serviced by trained Forest Edge staff
Faulty boards are clearly labelled and removed from service
Boards requiring extensive / difficult repairs are taken to a bike shop
Participants are briefed on the correct use of brakes
Participants are asked to ride sensibly to prevent damage to boards

Existing Control Measures
 The leader rides at the front of the group and notifies group members of any approaching
hazards
 Participants are asked to ride sensibly to avoid damage to themselves, the boards or the
environment
 Ground conditions and terrain hazards are continually assessed by the instructor
 Participants are asked to ride sensibly at all times to avoid damage to themselves, the boards or
the environment
 Water bottles should be taken to the activity
 Participants are informed that it is NOT a race. Anyone who rides in a dangerous manner will be
removed from the activity or the entire session may be cancelled
 Questions are asked with regard to individuals riding ability and experience
 Participants ability is assessed in a controlled environment before commencing the ride where
braking is practiced
