RJ Project Reminders and Checklists COSTUME PROJECT: Remember that you are drawing several costumes, not just one. Be sure to re-read the guidelines. Your costumes and paragraphs should be based on research of the Elizabethan Era of theatre. Include an MLA formatted WC page. --14th century costumes --Minimum of one authentic costume for: Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Prince Escalus, Nurse, Friar Laurence, Lord Capulet, Lord Montague, Lady Capulet, and Lady Montague (10 total) --Label each costume with character, act, and scene --One paragraph explanation of each costume should be based on research -- Any information provided by research that is included in your paragraph must have in-text citations (quoted or paraphrased) --Written paragraphs must be submitted to turnitin.com --Works Cited page should be included (include it to turnitin.com submission) CHILDREN’S BOOK/COMIC BOOK: Be sure to include the essay that goes along with the illustrated book. 15 pages is the minimum. That does not include the front and back cover. This is a book for 2nd to 4th graders; it is not a baby book. If your audience is a more mature audience, please include the intended audience in your essay. --Illustrated --some (NOT ALL) Shakespearean words may be used --a one to two-page paper which explains the representation of the play and the reasons behind it. --essay and children’s book content must be submitted to turnitin.com as one document --Minimum number of pages for book—15 (comic book may look different than children’s book in number of pages) --If Shakespeare is quoted, there must be a WC page SONG/RAP: You must perform this project for the class. However, you may make a music video instead of presenting to the class, and we will show that video instead. Be sure to visually display your lyrics. You may summarize the entire play, or it might be more unique to focus on a certain character/conflict/theme. Songs must be at least 2:30 long. Please be sure that all aspects of the project are school appropriate. --Song is written by student --Words are creatively displayed for all students to see --Song must be performed in class --At least 70% of the original words must be changed --Song lyrics must be submitted to turnitin.com NEWSPAPER: This may be done on one large sheet of paper, OR you may create a newspaper with several pages. It does not have to be written entirely in Shakespearean Language, but it should definitely have elements throughout. For instance, the titles of the articles might be Shakespearean. BE SURE YOU PROOF READ. You may use a publisher-type program to design the paper if you wish to do so. Include an MLA formatted WC page for anything that is not student-created. --From the time period of the play --Papers have to include a main headline, obituary of Romeo and Juliet’s deaths, gossip column, society pages, a “thought of the day/advice” column from Friar Lawrence/Nurse, etc. --Should look like a newspaper --Well-written work that shows knowledge of the play and creativity --All written content must be submitted to turnitin.com as one document PLAYLIST: Your project should include two songs per Act—10 songs total. Be sure that you have a wellwritten paragraph for each song about how it connects to the play. Work should look cohesive. All songs must be burned on a cd. Students should create a cover for the cd and the song collection. --Each song should have a one paragraph in-depth description that includes how the song fits the scene, using evidence from the themes, symbols, motifs, and situations that the play explored. --You must include one line from the play, linking your artistic choice with your explanation --Lyrics of all songs included in final project --Creative cover for mixed CD --Project should be displayed creatively and neatly --The song lyrics do not need to be submitted to turnitin.com, only the written paragraphs YOUR CHOICE: Be sure that you follow the guidelines I approved COMPLETELY. Please also be sure that your project is of the same caliber of the other projects assigned. DO NOT complete a project that I have not approved.
