PTA JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Are you wanting to get involved in your child’s education? Joining the JEE PTA is the
best action you can take as a parent or guardian in supporting your child’s educational
environment! We have many Chair/ Co-Chair positions open for the 2014-2015 school
year and you have the opportunity to serve on any JEE PTA committee. Please look it all
over and see what interests you. There are ways to help as little or as much as you want
in the PTA!
Below are the job descriptions for each position. Fill out the information on the
following page and return it to your child’s teacher or the PTA office. Or simply

PTA Job Descriptions:
Art Awards - Responsible for collecting and enlisting judges for the art teachers’ hand
picked art projects for each grade, framing the winning pieces and putting together
an award ceremony (April/May). You will be working with the JEE Art Teachers.
Assistant Treasurer: Work with the current PTA Treasurer to learn about the PTA
treasury in order to step into the executive treasurer position the next year.
Bilingual Liaison Coordinates people who can speak Spanish to help translate at PTA
events (Meet the Teacher, Book Fair, Carnival).
Book Fair – Works with the Scholastic rep, publicity, managing volunteers, assuring
accurate and timely financial deposits, scheduling class participation and clean up.
Box Tops – Oversees the two collections during the year, publicity, collecting and
rewards.
Carnival – Responsible for coordinating the Fall Carnival, organizing volunteers,
games, and vendors.
Community Partnerships: Develop community partnerships with local businesses as a
way to fundraise for our school by planning spirit night events. A percentage of the
spirit night money is given to JEE.
Directories –Complete and distribute student school directories (fall).
Dynamic Dads - Coordinate the Donuts with Dads for each month
Fourth Grade Party: Organizes the 4th grade party that happens on the last day of
school including fundraising for it, get venders, and volunteers.
Enrollment Packets – Works with administration, PTA committees and other
organizations to collect, print and prepare enrollment information packets, which are
distributed to all students at the beginning of the school year.
Fall Fundraiser – Help organize a Jog A Thon in the fall to raise money for the school
and promote fitness with our students.
Food Drive – Responsible for overseeing of advertising, collection, organizing and
boxing donated food for the Jenks Community Food Bank (fall)
Health & Wellness – Coordinates programs, help educate parents, teachers, and
students about healthy lifestyles.
Homeroom Coordinator – Arranges the location, date and time for the Homeroom
Parent Meeting in August, runs the meeting and prepares information notebooks, in
charge of coordinating efforts between the individual grade level chairpersons
Homeroom Parent (Grade Level) – Responsible for making sure each classroom in
their respective grade has a homeroom parent, keeps homeroom parents posted on
dates and times of parties, develops an email list for your grade.
Hospitality – Organize the location, set up refreshments for the PTA meetings, and
works with the PTA Secretary in planning and organizing the PTA’s Holiday and
Change-Over Luncheons.
Jenks Foundation Baskets – Works on collecting donations and money to make
auction baskets for the Jenks Foundation Auction (Spring)
Legislation Action – Attends meetings with the administration and goes to the State
Capitol during the Legislative Sessions as a parent of the Jenks Schools to support the
school
Membership – Input data from Enrollment, publicize membership campaign
PTA Press – Produces the JEE PTA Press (the school’s monthly PTA newsletter), works
closely with Jenks Print Shop, sets guidelines and deadlines for submission of articles
(most of the work is done at home)
Recorders – Organize the sale of recorders (musical instruments) needed for
incoming 3rd and 4th grade music classes – works with JEE music teacher
Recycling- Coordinates the recycling efforts at JEE
Reflections – Coordinates the fall contest with the state PTA and the JEE students,
selects judges and plans an awards ceremony
School Beautification – Organizes the maintenance of flower beds and courtyards on
our campus
School Supplies – Order school supplies in spring, coordinate volunteers and set-up
for school supply sale in August.
Spirit Wear - Works with local rep and chooses t-shirt designs and souvenirs to sell at
the School Supplies Sale in August, coordinates people to help with sales, collection
of the money, quality control, and delivery of the material.
Square One Art Fundraiser- works with the JEE art teachers for school wide spring art
project fundraiser, including taking orders and having volunteers.
Super Kids Day – Coordinates and oversees this spring event to help the P. E.
Department, responsibilities include advertising, securing beverages and
coordinating the volunteers
Teacher Appreciation – Organizes PTA sponsored events for all teachers, and staff for
Faculty and Staff Appreciation.
Veterans Concert – Works with the music department to have volunteers for the 4th
grade fall Veterans concert and after party in the spring.
Volunteer Coordinator- Works with placing volunteers with the JEE staff and
coordinates other volunteer needs through out the year. Also works with District
Volunteer Coordinator.
Yearbook – Handle the responsibilities and duties associated with creating the
school’s yearbook. These responsibilities include gathering pictures, creating
yearbook pages and handling all administrative functions associated.
