SPID REPORT FOR October 2015 Water consumption for August was 11,200 cubic meters or 2,460,000 imperial gallons, down about 20% from July. Water consumption for September was 7,200 cubic meters or 1,590,000 imperial gallons, down about 35% from August. In addition, our hydro and chlorine costs have declined as a result of the lower water use. To confirm, all water restrictions have been removed. Once again, a big “thank you” to ratepayers for their conservation efforts of this essential resource during the island wide drought this summer. October is budget month and the Board is currently reviewing expenses and revenues and working on the 2016 budget for presentation to the annual general meeting next April. A reminder to ‘snowbirds’ heading out for their annual winter vacations: Invoices for taxes and water tolls that are due March 1st each year are issued in January. SPID accepts postdated cheques. Unfortunately, we cannot accept direct debit payments or credit cards as the financial institutions’ charges are cost prohibitive. However, we now accept e-Transfers. You can email the transfer to us at shipspt1@shaw.ca . Please use your Ships Point address and your last name as the answer to your security question. For example, 1234 Tozer Road Jones or 5678 Baynes Drive Smith. All bank charges for this type of payment will be the responsibility of the ratepayer.
