1. General
Thank you for your interest in the Bar Council’s business development mission to
Astana and Almaty, which will take place from 26 – 30 April 2015.
If you are interested in participating in the mission and speaking at the seminar, please
read the attached guidance notes, complete this application form electronically and
return it along with your CV to Hayley Boatwright at HBoatwright@BarCouncil.org.uk
by 09:00 on 1 March 2015.
We will aim to let you know the outcome of your application within two weeks of the
deadline date.

Seminar programme:
The seminar topics for Astana and Almaty are not yet finalised but we are considering
the following topics international dispute resolution, international arbitration, and
important issues in regulatory law (e.g. Bribery Act).
It is optional to speak at seminars. If you wish to speak at a seminar, please indicate the
seminar topics you are able to speak on in the table below. Please give a brief outline of
the sub topics you would be willing to speak on, detailing the title and main points you
would make. When finalised, participants will be notified and invited to submit further
proposals for speaking.
Please note that we cannot guarantee you a speaking slot, but will do our best to
accommodate you, in accordance with the Bar Council “Policy on Selection Processes”
for international business development missions”, detailed in the accompanying
guidance document.

you have spoken in the past and the topics you have covered.
Please indicate any other information you consider relevant (e.g. membership of foreign
bar associations, bilateral lawyers associations or trade bodies).
Please describe how you plan to disseminate your experience gained on the trip, if at all
(e.g. sharing market intelligence with your chambers through a seminar, writing an
article for a publication etc.)
