This entry level Classification and Compensation Specialist
will be responsible for learning, developing, and administering
competitive, cost-effective, and legally compliant
compensation programs and best practices by:
Position Summary
* Conducting job classification studies and making
recommendations by performing on-site interviews, job
analysis, evaluative point assessment, job hierarchy
comparisons, and lateral job comparisons.
* Participating in compensation studies and developing
recommendations by performing internal comparisons to
comparable and similarly situated jobs and external market
comparisons.
* Advising internal constituents on personnel issues and
decisions related to job classification and compensation.
* Participating in training and informing AU employees on
compensation and classification issues.
* Compiling information and preparing reports, letters,
memos, and job descriptions.
* Participating in third party compensation surveys and
providing continuous research on peer institutions and similar
external markets.
* Documenting methodology, assumptions and decisions on
compensation issues to ensure consistency of decisions and
coordination with other compensation and human resources
colleagues.
* Assisting with cost and statistical analyses as needed for a
variety of pay practices studies.
Minimum Qualifications
Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from
an accredited institution in Business Administration,
Accounting, Marketing, Management, Economics, Statistics,
or an equivalent major; a commitment to learning applied
compensation theories and practices in a collaborative working
environment; possess developed analytical, statistical,
interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills, and the ability
to work both independently and collaboratively; possess
willingness to pursue Certification in Compensation (CCP);
possess full proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including
Excel -- Pivot Tables, Vlookup, Workbooks and Statistical
