Calcium carbonate in a solid state is a constituent mineral which is naturally found on Earth. In dissolved state, the substance is a natural and
indispensable constituent of water in nature. One can therefore exclude effects unfavourable for the environment. Calcium carbonate cannot be
biodegradable.
There may be some restrictions which indicate that concentrated suspensions of calcium carbonate in natural water can have an unfavourable effect
on aquatic organisms (disturbing the micro-flora and the micro-fauna in the sediment with, consequently, a negative effect for the existence of
higher aquatic organisms.
