Old Man Winter! (This is a picture that I took looking across the street at my neighbor's house from my front porch this morning. Can you tell how hard it is snowing?) I just had to blog today...not for anything profound, but just to let you know what is going on in the Tundra that we affectionately call MICHIGAN! It is snowing. I know. I know. No big surprise, right? Well, this winter we have set records! The paper yesterday gave the exact figures of amount of snow fall, as if we didn't already know how bad the weather had been....now we know for sure! In Southwest Michigan we have had 45 inches of snow in the month of December alone. That is twice as much snow as usual! From January '08 to December '08 we had 166 inches of snow...and, no that is not a typo! Today it is snowing and we are under a Winter Weather Advisory. We are expected to get from 6-10 inches of snow over the course of today and tomorrow! I have to tell you that I am not complaining! I love the snow. I love the hush that falls as the ground is covered in a fresh blanket of snow. I love the view out my back window of the creek breaking through the white crust that has formed on its banks. I love to watch the snow fall as I am wrapped in a warm cozy blanket on my couch. I really like the change of seasons, and I especially love the big dose of winter we get in Michigan. I mean, if we have to have winter, why not snow? If it is going to be cold...I would rather it snow than rain. Jacob loves recess in the winter, because they get to bring their snow gear and play in the snow during recess! Anyway, I just wanted to tell you what the weather was like here. Our Creator is painting another beautiful picture on the landscape of Southwest Michigan today. Have a great day, and Thank God for the seasons. You will be surprised at what Thanksgiving can do for your attitude. If your tired of winter...look for the positive. "Old Man Winter" is here, and I think he spent the spring, summer, and fall getting into shape, because he is really showing off! Posted on Fri, January 9, 2009 by Crystal Colp
