The Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA) is a non-profit membership organization
comprised of over 200 foundations from across North America and overseas. EGA works with
members and partners to promote effective environmental philanthropy by sharing knowledge,
fostering debate, cultivating leadership, facilitating collaboration, and catalyzing action. EGA
envisions a high-impact network of environmental funders working to achieve a sustainable world.
EGA staff work in a fast paced environment, juggling multiple projects simultaneously. The
Membership Services Manager is responsible for implementing membership services and
programming, overseeing project-based consultants, performing administrative tasks, and
managing EGA fellows and interns as necessary. EGA is an equal opportunity employer that values

Job Title: Membership Services Program Manager
Reports to: Associate Director
Compensation: FTE salary based on experience, with exceptional benefits
Hours of Employment: Full time; some weekends & travel with advance notice
Start Date: Summer 2012
Responsibilities:
Membership Services:
The Membership Services Program Manager will work closely with the EGA staff and the Board of
Directors on membership recruitment and retention. This will include but is not limited to:
 Lead strategic membership growth efforts, developing promotional campaigns, networking,
and outreach to new members
 Coordination of peer-to-peer outreach for Board of Directors
 Providing services and support to the EGA’s diverse membership, ranging from large
foundations to individual trustees and family foundations
 Connecting and building relationships with and among EGA members
 Networking and traveling to relevant events
 Strategizing and implementing member-initiated networking and peer-learning activities
 Cultivating member volunteers for EGA committees
 Manage fundraising related to member growth and member service programming
 Administrative work as needed
 Lead team to develop and implement evaluation tools and protocols for EGA programs and
projects that track member satisfaction, developing reports for the Executive Director and
Board of Directors, with recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
Programming and Events:
The Membership Services Program Manager will oversee all major event planning and provide
administrative support related to EGA’s flagship Fall Retreat (annual member conference of around
400 attendees), Policy Briefings, webinars, and partner events. This will include but is not limited
to:
 Aiding in the recruitment and selection of event planning committee members
 Managing all event planning meetings: coordinate all logistics, timelines and benchmarks,
assist with budgeting, agenda building closely with executive director and committee cochairs, full committee coordination, details before and after meetings, and follow up as
necessary
 Lead on working with the Program and Host Committee and EGA staff to plan all event
programming (i.e., concurrent sessions, plenaries, and keynotes)
 Assisting EGA’s Conference Manager on all event logistics, accounts receivables, and
speaker coordination
 Working with communications team to ensure excellent outreach materials synchronized
across all programs and events
 Overseeing evaluation process for events
 Planning and leading 3 – 4 webinars annually
 Manage relevant fundraising
 Administrative work as needed
Qualifications:
 Strong, demonstrable knowledge of current environmental issues and related social trends
 Graduate degree in environment, nonprofit management, business or equivalent experience
preferred
 2-3 years work experience in nonprofit, philanthropy, membership, or association
management
 2-3 years event planning and/or development and outreach experience in a non profit or
philanthropic setting
 Experience with membership recruitment and retentions campaigns and committee
management highly desirable
 Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong written, editing, and oral communication
skills
 Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders including
board members, donors, constituents, and partners
 Good team player, works well with others
 Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure in high profile situations, with patience
and a sense of humor
 Available for regular travel
