Camping Tips
These items will be discussed and shown to you at your orientation.
Conserve Water – turn water on and off when showering. You only have about 15 minutes of water run time for
the shower, about 30 gallons total. Shower, kitchen and toilet are three different holding tanks so if you fill up the
shower you may still have room in the kitchen and the toilet.
Toilet – use 6 piece of TP per flush with enough water to get TP and waste down the drain. Tanks are sensitive and
can clogged easily at the top and blocking the rest of the tank.
Awing – Bring in when windy, the camp site is unattended or if it is raining.
Batteries – conserve electricity (do not use lights when not needed). Check battery levels about 6:00 PM and run
generator if battery is below 2/3. All outlets run off of generator as well as the TV and microwave. If an outlet is
not working hit the reset button on the GFCI (maybe located in the bathroom or on kitchen outlet). If you use a
light while sleeping bring a battery operated night light. Do not count on trailer batteries to power a light all night.
If you drain the batteries (run them to empty) an alarm will go off and refrigerator and everything in the trailer will
not have power. Run generator to recharge batteries. If this happens you may need to run the generator for more
than 3 hours to recharge a battery that has “died”.
Generator – Take in at night (Turn breather to off when stored), this is a commonly stolen item. Turn breather to
on, choke on, generator on, pull to start. For Duracell choke needs to be on and use the push start button. Turn
choke off when running. All outlets, TV and Microwave work only when generator is running or the trailer is
plugged into an electricity source.
Generator Hours – Check with your camp ground. The State parks hours are typically from 10 am to 8 pm. If you
have the generator running before 10 am or after 8 pm the rangers usually come by and ask that you turn off the
generator.
GAS CAN - The generator is provided with one full tank of gas and one empty 2 gallon gas jug. If you plan on
watching movies daily or staying more than 3 nights and you have a 5 gallon gas container you may want to bring
that as well to avoid multiple trips to the gas station.
TV – use input button on the TV to switch between TV and DVD. Generator must be on for TV to work. If DVD is
not an option once you try to switch between TV/DVD use composite.
Stove – To turn the stove on turn the oven knob to pilot and hold/press knob in for 25 seconds. While PUSHING
knob light the burner under the metal pan in the oven towards the back. You may have to turn the knob two or
three times while having the lighter light. Once pilot is light turn to desired temperature.
Questions - If you are having an issue with an item please call Camping Adventures at 805-797-7460. Leave a
message if no answer and I will call you back as soon as possible. I try and resolve most items over the phone. If
the situation is not resolved then depending on the time of day, etc. I may be able to show up for a service call.
However, if the item could have been handled on the phone (like not turning the choke off on the generator etc)
then a fee maybe charged. A fee will not be charged if the item is broken and is not user error.
